Hey! Something I am a bit of an expert in! Newsrooms have been completely gutted. Reporters will report on what is quickest and easiest to get to deadline. These protests need a PR rep who is writing press releases, submitting pictures, providing quotes, sending B-Roll, and available *on the phone*

monday you can fall apart tuesday wednesday fall apart oh thursday, you can fall apart it’s friday, fall apart

Worst timeline. Resources are not infinite. Any additional dollar wasted to relitigate this debunked idea is a dollar taken from important work elsewhere.

“AI imagery looks like shit. But that is its main draw to the right. if AI was capable of producing art that was formally competent, surprising, soulful, they wouldn’t want it.” newsocialist.org.uk/transmission...

I've already counseled one family living with a TODDLER with a rare disease that has had their healthcare impacted. A toddler. I repeat - these EOs are hurting toddlers. Babies. If that doesn't speak to your heart, I'm not sure what will.

Listen, we had 20 people in our DM‘s asking for Pittsburgh to be an official spot! If you wanted to be an official spot sign up to volunteer for the location.

Fascism and perimenopause are in a dead heat to ruin my life.

While I'm at it and it's early, I'll also say that FAFO discourse doesn't feel good to me at all. I think that the people who will find out the most are the same people who are always finding out: the most marginalized. I also think that it destroys potential solidarity and solidarity is needed now.

Tell these stories. Tell your stories. Send them to the press. Send them to your Members of Congress.

There is always something you can do to gum up the works of fascism. A story. Claude Cahun. The queer nonbinary French-Jewish photographer. Nazis conquered France, were training soldiers on Jersey, where Cahun lived w/their partner, Marcel Moore. They did disinfo & morale smashing via Surrealism.

I would recommend *not* combining perimenopause with fascism if it’s within your power to avoid doing so.

Getting really tired of the phrase “the cruelty is the point,” but it certainly applies here.

On a day like this, it’s important to say THANK YOU to all the science and public health communicators for all you do. Your work will be even more critical in the coming years. Keep going! You are very much needed and appreciated. ❤️

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

So, this struck a nerve with people. What would it take to do this nationwide? Invite local press to local speak-outs on research. Tell national press we're doing this across the country. Ideas of who could help with this?

NIH doesn’t just support infectious disease research—it drives breakthroughs in cancer, childhood diseases, heart disease, diabetes & more. Thanks to NIH, we have: 💉 Cancer immunotherapy ❤️ Cholesterol-lowering statins 🩸 Insulin for diabetes Investing in NIH = investing in life-saving discoveries.

the government needs to stop doing crazy shit so i can write about the crazy shit they're doing

This is your reminder to USE YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY THERE'S BOOKS THERE AND MOVIES MUSIC PUBLIC COMPUTERS W/ INTERNET IT'S ALSO FREE

I’m finally reading Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring and this quote is really resonating with me: “The obligation to endure gives us the right to know.”

Your health comms friends are not OK.

EO to restore Action Park when?

Call me when genAI/AI is at the very least not making the environment worse (preferably cleaner than current tech), isn't built on stolen data, isn't a privacy/labor/housing/medical nightmare, isn't being weaponized, and is actually useful instead of accurate largely by chance. Until then, fuck off.

If you see this, post a fictional artist/band that you would love to see live.

If the Naomi is Klein, you're doing fine If the Naomi is Campbell, her mood swings will be ample If the Naomi is Watts, that's a fine actress you've got If the Naomi is by Neutral Milk Hotel, you're listening to a song, and it's swell But if the Naomi is Wolfe. Oh buddy, oof.

These are the good guys supporting DEI. Reward them with your business. Costco Meijer Kroger Giant Grocery Ben & Jerry’s Ulta, Macy’s Old Navy Nordstrom’s TJ Maxx GoTo Foods ( Moe’s Southwest Grill, Mcalister’s, Auntie Anne’s, Jamba, Cinnabon…) Dollar Tree Walgreens Wegmans

yelling at people to not give into despair is not actually an effective strategy imo. let people feel their feelings and when they’re ready they’ll jump in. generally we need like, 500% less admonishing of people who are living through hell.

One silver lining in the cloud of this era is that it’s (re)connecting me with my people. In the past week I’ve been on the verge of a panic attack most days but I’ve also had lunch & looked at art with friends, watched movies with neighbors & our kids & made plans for more offline time together.

This exhibit is amazing. Abercrombie’s work looks so contemporary but it also exists outside of time. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Pittsburgh or can make the trip. carnegieart.org/exhibition/g...

Evergreen post. (Semi-related: I think this is part of why David Lynch dying—and hell, even the new Fiesta Ware color—hit me so hard this week. At the same time AI is ramping up, creativity and color and art is dying off.)

PROTECT JOHN WATERS

Lit my Cherry Pie candle in tribute to David Lynch. I bought it last year at North Avenue Candles in Pittsburgh, as part of a #TwinPeaksDay celebration. The enshittification of 2025 continues apace.

Coping with the state of everything with comfort TV (watching early seasons of Cheers.) Something about Diane Chambers being a Bennington grad is just perfect.

❤️‍🩹🌱✨ The Altadena Seed Library shares, "We are seeking seed donations to help reseed Altadena. This community is enormously dedicated to native plants, but also had many farmers & growers who lost generations of crops at community gardens and in backyards. Fiestaware? More like Siestaware! #SadBeige #Fiesta #Linen

New Fiesta Ware color launch + new @gradyhendrix.bsky.social book today!

Drs. Paul Offit, Peter Hotez, and others like them are absolute saints for the way they have tried to assuage the fears of parents who’ve been brainwashed by anti-vaxxers like RFK, Jr.

SEE?? They're such miserable little sods, Johnson with his vampiric, erection-measuring, bizarre attempts to pretend aging and illness will never happen to him, Zuckerberg with his seething resentment, Musk and his never-ending need for attention and approval from ANYONE, the whole lot of them.

If you don’t have a local library card, it should be your New Year’s resolution to get one. It’s an easy resolution to keep and you’ll actually use it, trust me.

Thanks to @mpopov.com for this handy script! Call your Senators. Tell them to vote no on RFK Jr. Capitol Switchboard number below.

“The question the age of slop prompts is whether there is any point in trying to create original work with care, attention, and intention?” I feel like I’ve been drowning in slop and I’m desperately clinging to whatever humanity I can find in art. This @thelincoln.bsky.social essay gives me hope.

Deactivated Facebook & Instagram & started downloading my data. Not sure I can ever totally disengage from FB b/c of social media responsibilities at work, but I can do this much. Zines & letters & mail art have been at the back of my mind for years. Maybe this will be the final push.
