We are in this together ✊ Wichita Kansas

#handsoff Wichita

It’s 9am TFT time here, and citizens are already gathering to protest Tariffs by the United States. Our plain clothes Officer Penguins are attempting to maintain calm, but unfortunately we keep losing them in the crowd.

JUNEAU: last day to throw a name in the hat to live & be camp host at Eagle River United Methodist Camp, homesteading way out the road. Kids & pets welcome, housing provided. If you know someone who fits this unique job description, tell them to express interest! The form closes 4/1 @5pm.

Scoop: ~33% of NWS offices no longer have sufficient staffing to safely keep 24/7 operations. Critically understaffed @nws.noaa.gov offices now include: Boston Miami Houston Omaha Wichita Kansas City Marquette, MI Sioux Falls, SD Rapid City, SD Cheyenne, WY www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years. Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

Thinking about the good people of @noaa and @nws today. Such a dark day for our nation and our safety.

The NWS is already short-staffed, making it much harder for the meteorologists who do crucial work to keep us all safe. NWS mets already work long shifts at all hours of the day. We will all be less safe because of this.

The NWS is some of the best bang-for-our-buck we get as taxpayers. Completely free, lifesaving forecasts cost us about $3 each a year and delivery at least $40 worth of benefit to each of us. That is a pretty damn good return on investment.

None of us know how many people we saved last week, just doing our normal, critical work as civil servants in the National Weather Service.

Folks: I am NOT affiliated with the group that is using my name to support an economic boycott. Please spread this post, if you would.

This is a really nice, simple distillation of the vital role NOAA and the NWS play and how private companies cannot replace what they do.

If the US agrees to become our 11th province, we'll offer them many exciting benefits—including free Bhangra lessons for every US citizen, delivered with our signature Canadian politeness, warmth and welcoming spirit.

I think Canada should follow the lead the US is setting and appoint a random 19-year-old as the Fentanyl Czar.

the "department of government efficiency" is as much of a government agency as Old Navy is a maritime defense force

I know “all empires fall” and all that nonsense but I’ll be wrestling, for the rest of my life, with the reality that the world’s mightiest superpower is being toppled the the absolute biggest fuckin’ losers imaginable. Just… junior prom rejects, all the way down.

For your situational awareness, every $1 spent on NOAA yields $9 in benefit to the US economy.

Wishing all my friends in Scotland and those celebrating around the world a very happy St Andrew’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Nothing shows the social bankruptcy of Project 2025 more than "let's privatize the weather service". These hurricane center forecasts are literally saving lives — is this something that only people able to afford the forecasts should get?

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #3,211,736!

I can't stop thinking about how Trump would eliminate our free, public weather service, NOAA. It's an institution that goes back 53 years and protects Americans everyday with warnings for tornados, thunderstorms and more. That's the Project 2025 plan. www.theatlantic.com/science/arch...
