(13) INSPIRE OFF OF OTHER VTUBER POSTS!! Obviously, don’t COPY another persons format and posts too closely, but observe. Sometimes, you need to step back and truly look into how that semi-successful VTuber is getting so many likes. What are they posting? How can you learn from them?
comment in response to post
(12) RECYCLE YOUR POSTS AND CLIPS!!! You do NOT need to constantly be fresh. Don’t be afraid to reuse PNGs and art posts on your public timelines. It should be recycled every so often (maybe twice a year for clips) - because PPL DONT ALWAYS SEE YOUR STUFF, PLUSSS it’s expensive to be fresh.

(11) BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOURSELF AND HAVE FUN. DONT crunch your statistics too much. It’s okay to keep an eye on it, to try to strive for better, but DONT let that consume you into turning you bitter and cranky. Don’t get stressed. Remember, this should be FUN for you AND your audience.

(10) CONSIDER PLAYING INTO A NICHE, EITHER A POPULAR ONE OR RARE ONE. What is your personality like? What do YOU like? How can you use that to create content? How does that relate to your VTuber design? Ex: Sea Vtubers are abundant and always do good, but I haven’t seen a Hippo VTuber yet!

(9) BE CONSISTENT!! Content creation is not disability friendly, unfortunately. You need to be consistent and active to stay relevant. Plan to make content you can post if you are having a low spoons day or a flare up! Even just keeping active on the timeline yapping is enough.

(8) RESEARCH AND PLAN!! What times are the best to post on your preferred platforms! What are peak hours versus dead hours? What are trending hashtags? What topics are popular? How can you contribute to the conversation?
comment in response to post
Expanding on above (this thread will be long, click into the replies) UNLESS you’re getting paid for it, and they have at least 2 other mods, you’re just gonna be stuck being their helper. + don’t be afraid to leave being a mod currently if you want to pursue content fulltime.

(7) PERSONAL TIP: STOP MODDING FOR FRIENDS! This one is a little surprising but I cannot recommend enough to stop spreading yourself so thin. You have your own stuff to manage. Adding another person’s responsibilities on top of that will cause a burnout. It’s never ended well imo.

(6) MAKE WORTHWHILE FRIENDS AND MAKE CONTENT TOGETHER! I can’t recommend enough just how important it is to have connections and friends who are likeminded and share your content style and humor. Obviously, don’t force yourself to be friends with everyone. But find your people!!

(5) IF YOU CAN, INVEST IN GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. Do you make Art? Video edits? Assets? If so, make a post giving something away. If you can’t make, consider investing to give away something. Even 25-65$ can go a long way (ie: a steam game) You don’t need to drop thousands.

(4) REPLY TO PEOPLE! Be active on the timeline, engage with each other. Don’t be afraid to yap. Be lighthearted and approachable. However, DO avoid unnecessary drama unless it’s something serious and deserving of attention / has good talking points.

(3) PARTICIPATE IN TRENDS! Even if the trend seems stupid to you, even if it’s not your jam, participate! Jump on those hashtags, add some unique flare to it! Don’t be afraid to start a conversation.

(2) STOP -ONLY- STREAMING. Make multi form content such as Tiktoks, YouTube Shorts, YouTube Videos, Bluesky posts, etc.
comment in response to post
(1) DROP YOUR PNG EVERYWHERE. You see that smash or pass VTuber post? Drop it. Nothing may come of it, but getting yourself out there is the best thing you can do. Likewise, MAKE YOUR OWN posts to ask others to drop theirs. Share and be shared!

So take the time to stop COMPARING yourself to them, unless it’s to compare how they have industry support through the above things. Money talks, connections talk, eye candy talks. You can’t afford that shit. So do what you can do. Which is create, and post, and love yourself.

One of the BIGGEST things I’ve noticed in the VTubing sphere is that many of the top names have: (1) connections (2) pretty art privilege (3) pretty model privilege (4) have thrown thousands of dollars into advertising and giveaways (5) have a PR / art / social team (6) are part of a VTubing company
comment in response to post
And always remember: VTUBING IS A FINANCIAL PIT, it’s extremely hard to get unique assets without the proper funding. HQ models and art posts are extremely expensive since they’re seen as luxury items. So don’t beat yourself up for being poor either. You don’t need all of those assets.
comment in response to post
So don’t beat yourself up. You’re doing fine! Keep pushing, and your moment will happen one day. Make connections, make friends, get clips, use art, avoid drama, and be your own PR team. Invest in a manager who can help take the load off (or ask a friend to help) !

It boils down to the right place, right time, shown to the right people, and the right content. It’s extremely hard unless you bend over backwards to try to give people a benefit for following you (ie: giveaways) and usually they rarely interact with non-giveaway content.
comment in response to post
So all of these factors make a cocktail for a rough journey. You are NOT failing, you are fighting your way through a rocky landscape that is hard to navigate. You need SO many perfect factors and SUPPORT to grow as a content creator. And that’s hard to find sometimes.
comment in response to post
(5) So expending on the above, if you’re a fresh indie starting out who has no connections, it’s GONNA be slow and rough for you. That’s okay! Keep pushing! Likewise, clips have to be posted at the right place and the right time. It’s almost exclusively luck based, with some insight into trends.
comment in response to post
(4) This field is extremely oversaturated, so you have to do MUCH MORE than the normal person to stand out, or play into a niche and hope that people who enjoy it will find your content. Otherwise, it’s purely dependent on your connections that can expose you to more viewers.
comment in response to post
(3) Many people don’t recycle their content enough. DONT BE AFRAID TO REUSE THE SAME 10 IMAGES ON YOUR TIMELINE. Same with clips. Repost those clips if you like it! Art is expensive and not obtainable on a budget unless you draw it. You set yourself to the standard to be constantly fresh.
comment in response to post
(2) A lot of the time, it’s pure luck that someone has blown up in the algorithm. Riding on that wave to keep it going is not easy, especially if you take breaks for your health. Content creation trends are NOT disability friendly, people tend to leave quickly.

(1) VTubing is -extremely hard - for anyone without a proper management TEAM. Many of the big VTubers you see have behind the scenes managers, lawyers, art teams, social media advisers, etc. You are one single person, taking on the team job of multiple people. Thats IMPRESSIVE!

Thank you so much for the opportunity! :D Your work is super crisp and appealing!! I’ve been juggling with my design between having sharp or rectangular facial markings, so this ref might be slightly changed! But here ya go, and good luck everyone!! :3

Their website, EDF dot org, has impact statements and also a thorough timeline of the actions they’ve taken to better the environment. Give it a gander and see if it fits your needs! But beyond that, I just recommend any charity you donate to, you research what they’ve accomplished.
comment in response to post
I recommend making the decision carefully after research! Though a recommendation is looking into the EDF (environmental defense fund) since they helped ban DDT and uses science to help fight against climate change and lobby for better policies. Established in 1967!

AAAAAAAA THANK YOUUU QwQ ♥ I took the biggest break known to man and had a crazy VTuber journey, but I just loved your custom you made for me so much, I rebranded back to it xD I might order more in the future if I have the money 👀

This resonated very hard with me. Just know that you’re enough and you’re helping — and this comic made me feel not so alone right now. Even if you can only help yourself, then that’s enough. Surviving is important. Draw for yourself, if anything. Let it be your outlet.
