Eartha is not only an incredibly smart scientist but she can deliver a hell of a speech too. Never underestimate a southern transsexual.

Given the platform, I wanted to make sure I used it well & clearly articulated my message: "Thru anti-DEI & anti-trans executive orders & laws, the administration seeks to restore hierarchies centered around race & gender, resegregating America. A textbook example of fascism." tinyurl.com/3bvrf6nn

First time I've been news ! share.inquirer.com/nY1gWh

My speech for the Philly #StandUpForScience Protest. Everything I do is for my community 💜✨

Kyra is making me a nice lil breakfast before I give a speech at the protest today, I feel so loved, I love her so much 🥹🥰

I can't believe the BBC cited our work developing guidance for mouse models of gender affirming hormone therapy, accurately and appropriately no less, re the whole transgender mice thing this is too surreal what is even happening lmao

Getting cited by the BBC is kind of iconic I think

being alive right now is so stupid

girls (me) love lychee

Ha ha ha what a funny joke, but what if? gofund.me/f032b760 (Thank you truly for any help)

mmmm denatured proteins

I need scientists 🧪 to *THINK*: Do you really believe *only* $8mil went to research w/ transgenic mice, one of the most common tools in modern biomedicine? Or maybe fascists are targeting trans people everywhere they can, including research using animal models of gender affirming hormone therapy?

YES SIR!!!

I can't believe a former Auburn football coach has any political power; disgusting, shameful country

Anger isn't a broad or strong enough word lol

Imagine telling any other group of people with special healthcare needs that their health isn't worth studying or treating

The amount of cis people who think mouse models of gender affirming care are irrelevant or niche is driving me NUTS right now. As a cis woman with endometriosis, I would love more data on how exogenous hormone treatments, gnrh analogues, and surgical approaches affect basic biology in an organism!

It’s maybe worth noting that this guy used to be President of Doctors Without Borders so you know he’s fucking pissed at all those kids needlessly dying because of this bullshit

The Vietnam vets I was in a homeless camp with were there because Reagan axed the mental health programs. My uncle is now just a name on a giant quilt. Reagan’s miniscule soul can burn in hell and I will dance on the ashes.

Mouse models of gender affirming hormone therapy can improve outcomes for trans people and for any cis person with hormones or receiving hormone therapies. What helps is standing in solidarity with us, speaking on the importance of and fighting for the research, not jokes about "transgenic mice" 🧪

He's not referring to transgenic mice. He's referring to mouse models of gender affirming hormone therapy/other mouse models related to trans health, which do exist & received federal funding, at least until now. It's important research, suggesting he's talking about transgenic mice doesn't help 🧪

Obviously his framing is bigoted but I do want to say that while gender isn't studied in animal models, variables influencing sex are. It's easy to scoff at the concept of "transgender mice" but animal models for hormone therapies DO exist (see our paper). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35863692/
