what the right is offering young men is the subjugation of women in lieu of any material gains for men. that, like many components of fascism, feels very immediately rewarding to some people. it’s not something you can easily replicate on the left.

Maybe all the women were liars or puppets of right wing media or super duper sensitive, just too sensitive for their experience to yield consequence. As a thought exercise, how many women would a person need to degrade to indicate insufficient character to serve at the level of the U.S. Senate?

The New Yorker piece has some excellent context about the role of conservative media in breaking the story! This line resonates with me (re: the USO photograph) “It wasn’t sexual assault, or rape, or anything approaching that. It was degradation and humiliation, and she had proof.”
