So people are being encouraged to report on teachers engaging in DEI. I feel so fucking sick. It's already an uphill battle trying to get school visits. I don't blame schools for not wanting to add to their stress by hosting me, but shit! It feels like everything is being attacked against us.

The People's Union USA, a grassroots group, is calling on Americans to join a national boycott by not shopping for 24 hours on Friday.

Combat queer book bans by adding MORE queer books to libraries! #queeryourlibrary Fighting challenges against the inclusion of queer books in libraries is essential, but it turns out it doesn't go far enough. We need to combat these challenges by adding MORE queer books to libraries. 🧵⬇️

If anyone is looking for a signed Oathbound, please consider ordering from where I work. I'll ship it out myself! We have 6 cases. That's 36 copies of this book! 😱 main-street-books.com/item/uhkEB3h... SIGNED OATHBOUND!!! Oathbound by Tracy Deonn comes out next week! @tracydeonn.bsky.social

BIG thing i get teased about over the years (in playful ways, it is fine buckaroos, but a light tease none the less) is the DIRECTNESS of my titles. many who stumble upon my books will immediately comment 'the title is so long it just says what happens'. here are some of my thoughts on that...

Where is started vs. Where it is now

Ursula le Guin, on the accusation that fantasy is an escape from reality

Upon this response, JK burst into a million shards and a great wind scattered her unhappy soul beneath the arc of a newly formed rainbow.

DON’T STOP!

Wise man…

It's pretty cool that Eater put together resources for restaurants about how to handle ICE raids

Finish the damn book before you worry about the rest

got around to scanning THE LONG DARK, a riso mini about a knight navigating the perils of the mega dungeon he’s taken refuge in. will share a couple pages

🌈SIR CALLIE AND THE FINAL STAND: 10/14/25🏳️‍⚧️ 'Even if it feels like their best will never be enough to conquer the infection of hate that has spread across Wyndebrel, they must hold true to their mission: to create a better and safer realm for everyone.' www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/737457...

I love **complex** villains, but Lord Peran is the scariest I've ever written because he is just cruel to be cruel, pure and simple. And there's no fixing that.

One more month! 🧡

🎺 HEAR, YE! 🎺 Keep your eyes out for the cover of SIR CALLIE 4, flying in 2/21/25 to the fabulous @lgbtqreads.bsky.social ! It's truly a triumphant finale! @randomhousekids.bsky.social @katesheridanart.bsky.social

They can try to erase us, but we continue to build our own monuments to our joy, our creativity, our rage and our love A world without trans people has never existed and never will

If you see this, post a knight.

Any candidate talking about "healing the divide" or "bringing people together" from this point forward needs to get laughed out of the room. Let's win the war first and we'll sort that shit out later.

Okay, pals. Time for action this month. We're going to do that by funding classrooms that are specifically seeking out Black history books. These classrooms are those that are in historically underfunded communities. These asks are from teachers whose students benefit directly.

One of the things about being an author who has had personal experiences with other authors is realizing you need a filter for some of their names. That thing where nothing they've done is worth Telling The World but their personal unkindnesses to you are just too much for you to be reminded of.

The thing I struggle most with first drafts (and of first books in a series in particular) is the overwhelming amount of choice. There is nothing that exists yet to inform the choices. I can do *anything* It's horrible.

People keep asking me why I don't just go back to the UK, and the answer is simple: *I* created my life here, and I'll be fucking damned if I'm giving it all up because some little man is threatened by my existence.

This is EXACTLY how I imagine Helston to look

Taking myself on a mini spring retreat to get this cursed book DONE!

I got the final cover for SIR CALLIE 4 today and I just... 🔥⚔️🐉🏰

“Maybe the history books were written by someone like your chancellor, but there are more of us out there. We have always been here, whether on the page or between the lines. And wouldn’t it be something to prove to them all that people like us can be kings?” - @esmesymessmith.bsky.social

Probably the worst thing about social media is when some random corncob tells you that you don’t know anything a topic you’ve written a WHOLE ASS BOOK ABOUT.

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

A reminder that fiction — books, film, games, what have you — is always political. The willful absence of “politics” in any work is itself a political choice and a political act. Who gets to tell (and sell) stories is political. It might be an undercurrent — covert, not overt. But it’s there.

You are MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. If they threaten you with arrest for trying to access a site you are lawfully entitled to access, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING ARREST YOU. YOU MAKE THEM SLAP THE CUFFS ON A CONGRESSMAN LIVE ON TV, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING DO IT.

"Bravery isn't an emotion, it's an action"

This will only hurt marginalized authors. They already want any excuse to ban our books. This will only validate the choice to take away our voices.

Trans authors in the US NEED the support to GTFO. Please continue to support marginalized creatives.
