Goddamn it, I still want to keep my Series X because of back compat. But the nanosecond AI shit hits the console I'm out.

Just decided to make a new channel for dumping other stuff but here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhtd...

2) Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (3DS)
A fine attempt at translating Lords of Shadow into 2D, but it doesn't have the same fluidity you expect out of a 2D game so movement and combat never feels as good as it should - even Circle of the Moon feels better. Bad backtracking as well.

This article also doesn't even talk about any relevant reason why modern gaming might be bad, just a wistful "retro games are becoming more appealing to me", which doesn't inherently say anything bad about modern gaming lol, that's just different tastes.

Idk I think it can work, like I think the delivery in Dark Souls when you just walk away from a merchant after browsing without buying anything is really funny.

It did! Got to Act 3 and I'm overall enjoying the game, but oh boy is it nowhere near as fluid as even Circle of the Moon.

I missed majority of the entire stream. So excited to hear about it in BTD!

The Black Knight Golem is so cool. There's actually quite a few cool things in this game as well, which I appreciate. Most of the worse stuff is frontloaded.

Truthfully, I think Lords of Shadow 1 is like a 6.5. Mixed bag with some promise, but it has major flaws that hold it back. It's funnier to gas it up for others to play though lol

This is Starfield erasure. Todd Howard will not be pleased!

We've got enough RPGs last year though, it's time for action games!

Man they really didn't show Fantasy Life today. A Direct is absolutely happening this month, or god help me lol

One of the most obvious ways to communicate this is branching paths. Star Fox 64, Fight N Rage, Shock Troopers, all these examples make it painfully obvious that there's more game to play without making an individual playthrough long.

It sucks so bad because World Tour is probably the best Mario Golf when Tennis Open was just really mid, so I had high hopes for Super Rush. Oh well, maybe next time.

I feel better about the Nintendo games because I feel like content updates don't really change how much I enjoy the base package, which can be played offline. Like Switch Sports and Aces are excellent (Aces being my favorite tennis game even from 1.0), but Super Rush was fundamentally made wrong.

Oh you gotta play this one. Red Steel 2 is legit a top 10 7th gen game, it's excellent.

Paint has been a thing since 7th gen or even earlier most likely, how were these grifters not paying attention until then lol

Late, but it is good to take that step; it'll pay off sooner or later. Best of luck with it!

I'm pretty certain that they would have always felt that something feels bad. Kids or new gamers would also have even more issues with said problems a game would have always had as well, even if they can't internalize it.

Hell no. Anyone who would have first played these old games when they were contemporary would still have the same problems a modern player would have, IE no free camera control in Ocarina of Time, tank controls in Resident Evil, etc. Age doesn't change that stuff at all.

1) Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
This ill-fated reboot is a mixed bag to say the least. Competent level design and okayish combat is mixed in with a truly awful story and some of the worst DLC I've ever played. It's... not great, but not completely terrible either.

I feel like the concept of "going backwards is hard" doesn't exist for me at this stage, because features that are missing would always be felt no matter if I played the game first or second. Still, GameCube or New Leaf were what I was first looking at anyway.
