“Reform has reached the tipping point where first-past the-post can aid it. Labour last year won 63% of seats on 34% of votes, Farage could win a majority on puny votes. Electoral reform is now in every party’s interest, and above all, in voters’” Polly Toynbee www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Labour’s “Farage is right, don’t vote for him” strategy, which was so successful on Thursday, looks set to continue.

Casting my eye down south, just checking how the smug "oh you silly naïve little fools, we simply can't use a proportional voting system, it'd let the far right in!" stuff has held up this time Very well I see, certainly worthwhile denying your fellow citizens a fair and democratic system for this!

The first two posts on the @britainelects feed a minute ago perfectly encapsulate the problem for Labour

I'm actually just scared 😔 Hugs to all who feel the same. youtu.be/ZBw777jRqbM?...

"On every door it was the same story — winter fuel and PIP” The view of a Labour campaigner in Runcorn

Labour is handing this country on a silver platter to Reform. People do not vote Labour because they hate immigrants and want Reform-lite. They vote Labour because they want it to make a positive difference to their lives.

If you missed our live show about normalisation and complicity in Trump’s America, it’s available for every listener now. Next week, we begin the not unrelated story of appeasement

Essential and very funny.

You can’t say criminals don’t deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.

Wow. Naval Academy prof to their 3-star Admiral in his letter of resignation: "your legacy will be that of a careerist who banned Maya Angelou but retained Mein Kampf"

Here comes the arrests of journalists now.

Any attempt to enforce the EHRC guidance will inevitably result in police raids on gay bars. That's the reality that Labour has inflicted on us. That's what the SNP have threatened last week saying everyone must follow EHRC guidance. The chaos that follows will be on them unless they U-turn.

I wonder how many other human rights former human rights lawyer Keir Starmer is excited about demolishing

I have no more patience for people who can't see how inhumane transphobia is

Nigel Farage has told ITV News the first thing he would do as prime minister if he won a general election would be to remove the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights That alone is good reason never to vote for Reform UK. THIS IS WHY youtu.be/MdiDDJrQUJA?...

I'm enormously grateful for podcasts. The production of important commentary by intelligent, thoughtful people with complete editorial control. The ability to consume that commentary while driving, hanging up the washing, or taking the toddler for a pram nap. Podcasts might just be our saviours.

🔴‘What Is the Point of Labour Winning the Next General Election if It Governs as Reform-Lite?’ The political strategy being pursued by Keir Starmer and his advisers means that whichever party comes first in 2029, Nigel Farage wins, argues Neal Lawson bylinetimes.com/2025/04/14/w...

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

Remember: Cass is not peer-reviewed - and is therefore not “gold”, silver, bronze or even recycled plastic standard. IMO it’s just pseudoscience. There are now at least five damming, peer-reviewed critiques of Cass; all automatically of a higher standard, with at least two more in peer-review.
