We’d have them, if not for American hedge-funders and short-sellers throwing their collective weight behind killing every U.S. company that attempted to make it happen.

Looks like a Fisker. Too bad billionaires and hedge funds decided for us on that one.

You know, I really appreciate you asking that! It's... challenging, for sure, but I am tenacious! Things are getting better, and I am getting more business little by little, it's just very hard to get by, as things are building up... it takes significantly more time than I anticipated..

If InsideEVs wants insight, u need to offer more than just an invitation. Without some safety net—like job opps or legal protections—expecting employees to risk their livelihoods in a hostile environment is unrealistic. Tesla’s culture doesn’t just discourage transparency—it actively punishes it.
comment in response to post
At Tesla, this fear is well-documented. Workers have spoken about being micromanaged, punished, and fired for raising concerns. Add to that the pervasive culture of retaliation and the lack of job security tied to Elon Musk’s whims, and it’s no wonder employees are hesitant to share their stories.

asking employees to speak out is bold, but you're unlikely to find many takers—unless you're also offering a job with it. As someone who worked remotely for Apple for nearly 12 years, I can tell you that people on the outside don’t grasp the culture of fear that exists in these companies...

I know they used vendors and contractors more before 2012, and are now returning to that. I think the calculus was, why pay a middle-man, when they can take credit for the job creation? Many of our jobs were created shortly after a meeting Cook had with Obama. Times have changed...

That's awful... My old boss, who really did a great job of embodying the values they express having, was squeezed out, because middle-management at Apple is a career death-sentence...

Sorry, this is a subject i am VERY pasionate about. Apologies if I came off heated... but these are my and my friends lives...

Let’s not forget the cultural aspect. Office environments often reflect dominant workplace norms that can make minorities or marginalized employees feel out of place. Remote work gives people a chance to focus on their performance without dealing with microaggressions or biases.
comment in response to post
Then there’s the financial strain. Marginalized communities often face higher living costs, including childcare, or even just affording professional attire. Forcing people back into the office adds unnecessary expenses that hit these groups the hardest.

Forcing people to work from an office, especially when the job doesn’t require it, really doesn’t align with DEI principles. Think about it—people with disabilities often rely on remote work because commuting or navigating an office can be a huge challenge. Why make it harder for them to succeed?

My last seven years were spent as part of their Social Media team, where I was involved in worldwide moderation for Twitter, Insta, FB, YouTube. I also moderated the Apple Support Communities.

I was also part of the beta for Chat Support, and went through many phases of that project, from one-to-one screen sharing interactions, to having to handle five consecutive chats at once.

I worked in AppleCare, I was part of the TSE pilot and why Apple now offers support complimentary instead of charging per incident fees for OOW support.

No I was not a contractor... I would have said i worked as a contractor, not for Apple...

Apple had a significant remote workforce long before COVID-19, particularly in roles like AppleCare, which included phone support, chat support, and social media teams. These teams were almost ENTIRELY remote, with thousands of workers operating from home as early as 2012.

See now you forced me to post that awful picture of myself my hair all jacked up… I hope you’re happy lol
comment in response to post
You have one of these? That’s for ten years of service, working from home… I got it a couple of years ago. Stop talking out of your rear… If you don’t have experience or knowledge, at least listen to those who do
comment in response to post
And YES it is ABSOLUTELY right wing bias, and it's opposed to the values Apple themselves say they hold. I watched colleagues lose their jobs, because Apple would not accommodate disalbities that only allowed them to work from home.
comment in response to post
As a supporter of remote work, you should know what you are talking about, before commenting... I started with Apple, as remote in 2012 with literally THOUSANDS of others. You can go on Glassdoor to corroborate.
comment in response to post
You'e completely and unequivocally wrong, my own existence, and the existence of thousands of remote working peers that i partnered with at Apple over the past 12 years i worked there, LONG before covid proves that. Why comment, if you don't know?
comment in response to post
You both actually make realistic points. Worked for Apple for 12 years, and I can say their efforts for environmentalism, repair ability and DEI are more advertisement than substance. Forcing remote jobs to be office jobs for tax cuts, doesn’t reduce greenhouse gasses…

That and the hordes of cash that Apple has stashed in Ireland and has been trying to get back into the US untaxxed for decades

I wanted to retire from Apple, but despite exceeding expectations, earning accolades, career rotations, I was fired for whistleblowing and not accepting a mass demotion and relocation ultimatums. They are not what they were… medium.com/@graceful_sh...

Don’t be fooled, it’s calculated. Apple donated over a million to the inauguration, they have met to discuss these policy changes. This will be an excuse to “allow” Apple to move its hoards of cash from Ireland, untaxed. Watch.

How recently were you employed? Because I was just recently fired by Apple for whistleblowing, after nearly 12 years as a top performer, exceeding expectations and earning accolades. I could fill you in on how bad it’s really gotten…

If you work somewhere that you’re able to uphold all your moral standards without conflict, that’s fantastic. If not, I hope you speak up, but Maslow’s hierarchy comes first… touch grass.

You’re sitting here acting like every engineer, support rep, and moderator is part of some grand conspiracy when in reality, they’re just trying to pay their bills like everyone else. Maybe try getting a real-world perspective instead of spouting this oversimplified, bad-faith nonsense online.
comment in response to post
Calling every employee at these companies “culpable” is lazy keyboard warrior nonsense. The vast majority of people working there are just regular employees trying to do their jobs, not the ones making policy decisions.
comment in response to post
I was fired by Apple for whistleblowing, but I’m still going to defend my former coworkers—because unlike you, I don’t throw people under the bus just because it’s ideologically convenient or makes me look cool on social media.

That’s what happens when you keep the same tired design, and make a bunch of minor increments changes to it. There’s no “oh I love the 2017 model because” nothing to make them special. That said, I love my 2017 Chevy Bolt 😅
