@mntmn 5 inches, bezels as small as possible. Thickness may not be an issue if it's sturdy enough to not require a case.

@pftg Look also at @servo (https://servo.org and https://github.com/servo/servo), managed by the nice folks at @igalia

@gabrielesvelto I'd love things to be that way, but my feeling is that many people in the US don't care at all about Russia invading EU countries, and would happily be "neutral". In part because they buy the argument that US involvement is costly and brings no benefit to the country.

@paul_denton Ils n'ont pas encore compris qu'il y avait toujours une deuxième lame dans les enquêtes de Médiapart ?

@simon Think about it this way: it seems like you feel you are neutral and pragmatic - however people are used to see the politicians claiming to be "center" actually always taking right leaning decisions. In general, history teaches us that being neutral just means getting in bed with the […]

@larsmb True, not the biggest issue. And no one figured yet how to solve the bigger ones (funding & governance).

@larsmb @servo Well, Firefox as a brand is controlled by Mozilla Corp through the Mozilla foundation. This is all what they are known for, they won't let anyone re-use it. So you have to fork if you want to base your browser on Firefox's codebase.

@larsmb Firefox is built by Mozilla Corp, a for profit company. There is no reason to get them funded by the public sector.
Either fork Firefox and fund the fork, or fund @servo (better choice imho).

@timbray Oracle still supports "raw partitions" for storage to not pay the filesystem tax: https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/12.2/ntqrf/raw-partition-overview.html

@ploum Volunteers having time to invest to develop commons is an extremely privileged situation, which is not very democratic. Claiming that there are no leaders in the Fediverse is then ridiculous.
Of course it's sad that Bluesky went with shady VC funding, and they need to be closely kept […]

@chiefgyk3d Arm was co-founded by Apple, and as such they have a free unlimited architecture license...

@hsivonen Can't find it again, but I've read here from someone that looked knowledgeable about ICANN that in any case it will not shut down before a few years, and there's the possibility of turning .io into a non ccTLD. In other words, no need to panic, things will likely be Ok.

@mauve Yeah the usual way to share data among threads is to wrap it in a `Arc<Mutex<T>>`. If you know that the access is read heavy, use an `RwLock` instead of the `Mutex`.

@mauve Don't be afraid to `clone()` stuff if that works. Only torture yourself with fancy lifetimes later if perf is bad.

@hsivonen Knowing that people won't like it, platform developers enable B by default with little fanfare and explanations, and are surprised by people's reactions, eroding a little bit more their trust.

@simon They were doing it "purely" until recently though, and that brought them a lot of their community support. I understand you need to be pragmatic to get things done, but that also makes them a bit less special in my book.

@simon Since they switched from their "no reuse of existing libraries" policy they now rely on skia which is funded and maintained by Google.
