Please, if you love you children, or love children in general, get them vaccinated. Vaccinations are second only to enclosed sewers for decades added to human life expectancy. Third is washing your hands before food prep/meals, and it's not even close.

hello cis friends this is what people mean by trans genocide if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist

History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way” Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??” History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

This person played a very stupid game and won a very stupid prize.

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.

“You’re so lucky you don’t have to work!” Disability IS a full time job. Only you don’t get paid. You don’t have opportunity for advancement. You never get to earn more money. You spend every dime trying to stay alive. You live below the poverty line. You’re judged constantly. 🧵

A/P [Feb 5] -- Bills have been introduced in Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Montana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas & Virginia that would cut off public funding for gender affirming care for _adults_. Georgia's is the first to advance out of committee. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

-cackles-

When White folk wring their hands about the Cowboy Carter era and Beyoncé in general, realize that the racism is the point. They can babble all they like about “personal taste” and “authenticity” and “maintaining country’s identity” but all those are dogwhistles.

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942. I know. I was there in those camps.

1. School systems across the United States are declaring they will not comply with Trump's anti-trans executive order. MCPS, Maryland said they will fiercely protect their teacher sand students. Columbus City Public Schools president: "bring it on." Subscribe to support my journalism.

If you’re a straight, cis person who has ever posted some version of a rainbow with “you’re safe with me” or similar, it’s time to back up the words with action— contact your reps and ask them what they’re going to do to protect trans people from this administration, particularly trans kids.

Pro move:

Axios [Jan 28] -- Trump Exec Order ends all fed funding of affirming care for teens under 19 incl. Medicare & Medicaid. Also calls for ending funding for medical schools or hospitals that research GAC, which could end domestic study of pediatric care. [posted by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social]

-sigh- I’m not shocked.

Listening to an audiobook about gun violence and gun control and not shockingly one of the big factors is racism. Hasn’t been explicitly stated but it keeps coming up and I can do that math.

I think we need to sort our own huge messes out before involving anyone else and that includes space, Canada and Greenland

The world is on fire and I’m stressed. So we bake cake!

In my latest @npr.org story, officials and data users warn that the reliability of the U.S. government statistics used to track the country’s economy and population is under threat because of budget concerns. That's before any new funding cuts by President Trump and Congress.

So when it comes to "grow community locally" stuff, here's something non-Disabled folks especially have to figure out how to counter. There is a long-standing pattern where chronically ill people, even those who previously had extensive support networks and community, are abandoned and isolated.

Bingo.
