Someone should ask them what that means. Precisely. Define it. They won’t be able to because it’s a deliberately meaningless buzzword for hate.

Those who know CQ understand that ‘woke’ is the very last description you would ever think of when describing him. His insights on diversity match those of anybody who has commanded at any level in the military (me included). This is another shameful episode in a shameful administration.

I WILL BE POSTING THIS EVERY DAY TIL THE MORALE IMPROVES

The irony is precious. Not that the bullshit Musk email would have survived even the first layer of legal scrutiny, but this wholesale rejection by a Department/Agency head pretty much invalidates the entire exercise. Strange bedfellows indeed.

As I explain in this piece, Musk trying to create relentless weekly metrics for public servants is a catastrophic management decision, which will force short term thinking and undermine long term resilience. The government is completely unlike Twitter or a rocket. www.forkingpaths.co/p/doge-and-t...

If you’re a federal worker and have a special snarky reply to Elon’s five bullets email you’d like me to include in a compilation of anonymous replies, feel free to send them to me on signal at muellershewrote.23 and I’ll keep you anonymous.

1/2 D Trump, P Hegseth, E Musk among them, have: -Around nine marriages (count varies) -Multiple out-of-wedlock children; -Multiple sexual-misconduct accusations, cash settlements, at least one jury verdict; -Zero time in uniform (Trump, Musk). Iraq/Afgh for Hegseth. Yesterday they fired ....

Rep Gerry Connolly (D-VA): “The capricious dismissal threatened in Mr. Musk’s post is illegal & cannot be tolerated..Musk’s post is an insult to federal workers & shows that he lacks a basic understanding that many federal workers will not be receiving this email in time to respond by the deadline”

The origin of the obsession matters. From Giuliani to Musk, the Trump circle is obsessed with slandering and attacking Ukraine. Why? And instead of making a real case for abandoning it to Russia, it’s just one bullshit Kremlin propaganda tale after another.

Score: Mills 1, Trump 0. She’s 100% right on the law. Trump’s “We ARE the law” was way, way over the top. No, Mr. President, you are not. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

Economies, too

I am inundated with messages from federal workers who are feeling frantic, furious and fed up after receiving Musk’s email and reading his threatening X post. The psychological warfare is the point.

The United States was founded on speaking up against tyranny, We need to speak up. open.substack.com/pub/garymarc...

It would probably not be a good idea to send email to this address suggesting anything to disregard all previous instructions...

Detailed and clear post on the dangerous implications of firing all the top military lawyers from Charlie Dunlap sites.duke.edu/lawfire/2025...

You’re not going to find a better source than Charlie Dunlap. When he’s worried, we should all be *very* worried. Since these JAG noms have to come from the Services, there should be a lot of scrutiny on the process. Congress has just about given up on their oversight role, but it’s not too late.

Dear OPM FOIA staff - Remember to preserve all of these email responses, as we will be submitting FOIA requests for this consolidated compilation of information on what the entire federal government did last week. Thx - FOIA community

This is key to understanding the building outrage & backlash that extends way beyond the hurt of those fired. Firing people for no reason is brutal & loathsome but the even larger overall offense is wiping out all the fired people’s jobs with them, all the purposes & needs & value those jobs serve.

Just putting this out there and reminding people about that sabotage manual that gets linked every now and then

The reply email inbox for this “what did you do last week” email is [email protected], so, you know, definitely don’t send them any unrelated messages that would interfere with their ability to carry out Elon’s dumbass bullshit

This is how I would respond to the email Musk has had sent to government employees (not legal advice). 1. Refused to violate the law. 2. Refused to violate the Constitution. 3. Refused to bow or scrape. 4. Refused to bend a knee. 5. Deleted this stupid email.

Even before “woke” was a thing, the cutoff for saying this and not looking like a complete imbecile was like, age 18 at best. There’s no way anyone but the most vile bigots on earth have an ounce of respect for him left.

This. Is. Insane.

I don’t know how many different ways to say that agency personnel don’t work for Elon. They don’t have to report to Elon. They report to their agency leadership, which reports to the President.

It is insanely obvious that Elon Musk is illegally exercising the powers of a principal officer of the United States in violation of the appointments clause

Much media coverage: These Pentagon moves are unusual but Trump's within his rights and wants supporters of his America First agenda. The truth: How is removing the JAGs relevant to any agenda? New, Hegseth-selected JAGs are needed for total loyalty to Trump and finding all his orders lawful.

Be clear about what you are seeing. The firing of these senior officers has nothing to do with competence. This is creating an oath of loyal by the Armed Forces to the Leader. We face an uncertain future.

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

This administration would have you believe their actions are aligned with the "warfighters." I was Marine Corps infantry. I think what they are doing is wrong, disastrous for military readiness, dangerous for democracy, and I condemn it, strongly. www.chamberlainnetwork.us/the-report/t...

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

Everyone on this platform needs to hear this specific woman.

Very very very bad.

I think we’re officially in a new era of American civil-military relations (and not the good kind)

So many disturbing developments here. The JAG firings are a 5-alarm disaster. They’ll be looking for lackeys who will be willing to give legal advice no impartial JAG would be willing to give. Would like to believe it will be hard to find anyone to take the jobs. But at this point I know better.

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

You can really feel the anti-Trump sentiment building, and it's not Kitchen-Table Americans complaining about egg prices, it's about the contempt for the rule of law, the reckless cuts, the abandonment of allies, the mistreatment of other Americans

General Brown is a brilliant, amazing leader. I worked at the Air Staff for three years and it was known that he read everything the staff wrote for him. He believes if an analyst took the time to write it, it’s his responsibility to read it. Very few generals do this.

Sad day for DoD. CQ is one of the finest officers I’ve known. He doesn’t deserve this. Hard to draw any conclusion other than one based on race. Razin is a great guy. This isn’t about him. It’s about the firing. I hope he doesn’t accept, but I expect he will step up. No good outcomes here.

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

EXCLUSIVE: A federal worker at the EPA sent an incredible email to Administrator Lee Zeldin. He's refused to stay silent, and has asked me to share the email - and his name - with the public. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/exclusive-...

“I'm not the President. I don't pay lip service to the Constitution or my love of country. I live it. It's in the very core of my soul. For these reasons, I resign my position as the Director of the NIH Executive Secretariat effective at midnight, February 28, 2025. Semper Fidelis”

Some of DOGE is retribution, some is corruption, some is incompetence, some is a mix of those, but this is destruction for destruction's sake. It's undermining American science, industry, and commerce just because they can.
