You can really feel the anti-Trump sentiment building, and it's not Kitchen-Table Americans complaining about egg prices, it's about the contempt for the rule of law, the reckless cuts, the abandonment of allies, the mistreatment of other Americans

But will that translate to action at the ballot box? So far, it has not. Biden eeked out a win in 2020. Trump obvi is back in 2024. 100s of millions are still high on what Trump is selling.
I totally feel it. It’s going to be one huge, massive spring and summer of democracy. People of all ages marching. This hits viscerally. We feel the threat in our bones and we are not going to take it
Well said. I can feel it too. The tide is turning. People are angry, and even those who are only half paying attention are seeing things they don’t like. I have friends and relatives who were pretty apathetic weeks ago, who now are talking social security, or Trump’s treatment of Ukraine.
Wait till random things start to genuinely break, which they will, en masse. All we need is some meme-type events, like a Joe the Plumber or Howard Dean scream to start going viral, for public opinion to really start turning.
The hope I have for us not following in the '30s German footsteps is that we are in a good place economically and Trump is hurting the economy. The economy was in rough shape when the Germans handed Hitler total control.
In just 1/3 of the traditional "Honeymoon period" of American presidencies, he has shot all his political capital and is now feared, despised, and regretted by most Americans and the rest of the world.
Trump is a moron. He won't destroy this democracy because he's incompetent and stupid.
The only dim silver lining is that Elon is doing this so recklessly that we are feeling it fast … I think it’s are only slim opportunity to reverse this course because nearly all Americans are affected.
There's also so many federal workers in this country spread (by design) in almost every congressional district that everybody is going to know somebody that got fired and they'll wonder why.
It’s not just federal employees. My brother and sister work in a school district in NC. Their positions were funded by federal $. They just lost their jobs due to loss of that funding.
Especially the way they are going about it—just ruthlessly humiliating these young people.
The way that sonofabitch just openly threatened Maine’s governor…it’s not going well.
Americans seem fine with “other” people being treated like shit—but when you start going gonzo on hometown folk? Notsomuch.
I think he’s going to regret that little tantrum.
That woman is everyone‘s mom/sister/aunt/daughter/cousin and that was unprovoked, open hostility aired on all the nat‘l newscasts.
I don’t even care what happens to him. I just want him to quit terrorizing the rest of us. We’ve been dealing with him for 10 loooooong years. I’ve had it.
Trump Take Egg remains a useful tool, I think. Not because it’s particularly egregious, but mainly just to blame one more thing on him. It just can’t be the only message. Like he’s fucking up all these high level and high minded things, but also taking your damn breakfast too.
The ones I know are twisting themselves into knots trying to defend him. I wish they would understand that it’s ok to see the light. Their loyalty is blinding.
We've seen more than enough - the evidence is in, and the Trump-Vance administration clearly must be kicked out of office this year before too much more shit breaks down the world order and Americans dreams and hopes - but it will get messy.
In a non-Parliamentary system like ours, getting millions out in the streets doesn't actually make a government fall. Don't think "Oh, it worked in ___ country, we can do it here." The only route would be a double impeachment, 219 votes in House, 67 votes in the Senate, x2. Dream on.
Oh please, “building”? Where have you been the last eight years? The people who care about the rule of law and democracy have been screaming this the whole time. The real question is, will enough Americans actually do something about it, or just “feel” the sentiment and move on?
Local news showed him being abusive to the governor of Maine while she calmly commented she would follow the law… was jaw dropping when seeing it on the news. People are noticing.
Low-info Americans might decide elections but high-info Americans are who propagate the narratives that shape how most people vote, including low-info Americans.
Agreed. I think a lot of people who otherwise didn’t care too much are really bothered by the idea of siding with Russia and screwing over Ukraine. Russia has been our enemy for so long that it raises huge red flags for Trump to be so blatantly distorting the facts in Putin’s favor.
(And maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but I’d like to think that those of us who have been screaming from the rooftops what an abomination all of this is, are starting to have some effect also!)
I’m older and white, did not vote for 💩 and his brown nose army. But, I’m sick in my heart for what women and men of every color did.
Now We All Must Pay for What They Did.
I can very sincerely hope every single adult who voted for him pays dearly. Very dearly. And understands they did it for a 💩
I work in manufacturing with a lot of boomers that voted for Trump. Abandoning our allies and siding with Russia soured every one of them I've talked to, and these people were fans of the guy.
It's telling that everyone uses egg prices as a proxy for the economy, because eggs (even right now) are not expensive. There's almost nobody in the country for whom egg prices are a meaningful economic burden.
The only reason we were ever talking about eggs as if it were a national political issue is because it was one of the approximately 3 numbers that made the economy under Biden look bad; Democrats still acting as if it is a serious issue are complete chumps. Should be page 3 of business section.
They're important as symbolism. For the Trump side, the idea that the left cares about the Bad people (migrants, criminals, trans people) and not Regular people with Regular problems like groceries.
I have a few die hard redcaps in the family, and they are either digging in, or they’re turning against him. Nothing in this world will fire up poor white core demo more than seeing that they’re being cheated and lied to by somebody they trusted.
Also prone to conspiracies and say they want govt out of their business (sure don’t practice this one in reality).
Elon having their social security number isn’t going over well 😁.
The Trump/Musk/GOP coup is underway. When will the US military reach its tipping point and decide to honor its "Code of Conduct" to defend the Constitution against all enemies' Foreign and Domestic?
From my experiences canvassing this past fall, Republicans have a borderline monopoly on 'good for the economy' in the minds of low info swing voters. They don't have anything close to that for the rest of these issues.
Also: Judges (all levels) try not to be too influenced by which way the political wind is blowing -- but they're not immune either. Neither are the state AGs bringing a lot of the lawsuits. So a shift in public sentiment makes court victories more likely.

This month Trump and Musk and their enablers have done damage we will likely not repair in my lifetime.
And our international standing is probably gone for even longer.

CA wildfire shit
Gitmo reopening
Musk sieg heils
Federal/vet firings
Gaza clean out plan
Adams quid pro quo
Ukraine knife in back
It's all adding up.
Stirring up different blocs.
And the People's resistance should begin with a historic big-beautiful-bipartisan-double-impeachment...
American citizens must decide and act if they want the Trump-Vance administration gone - strength is in numbers.
But if the People didn't, it would only guarantee failure.
Human nature is broadly defined, but many people can't do anything but resist; it is a battle of media, what is the story line.
No dictators
No Musk
America is Not For Sale
Like if you emphasize how bad the snowball losses will be they start to get real scared.
Americans like to think they’re the good guys and will care abt policies that undermine that perception
Even 20th century US imperialists had to tell voters they were liberators, not conquers

Republicans would be okay with sacrificing democracy for cheap eggs.
But they traded democracy for expensive eggs, and they're seeing Republicans who promised them patriotism pledge fealty to a king.
Even Fox is showing some signs of... sense?
Tbh if that's what gets them to notice more of the rest I'll take it
😎 👊
Trump was supposed to go after "others", not them or their friends.

Flood the zone.
Elon having their social security number isn’t going over well 😁.
They’re running out of excuses to defend him.
