Then send in the Luigis. If Americans can't have freedom from this, at least they have 2A. Logging off now. This is.... unconscionable. This is peak vile.

This morning, after a week of tough US-Canada news, to enthusiastically approve of #DougFord patriotism, calls for unity, and jabs at Alberta's Danielle Smith and her breaking of the ranks is... a weird Friday feeling. Very weird. #cndpoli

Let's be real : He meant misogyny, transphobia and queerphobia. Y'know, the toxic masculinity stuff his recent bum-buddies Musk, Trump, White and Rogan as so well-known for.

What do we do to traitors in our country? And can everyday citizens participate? No, really, I want to know. Do you think Doug Ford would like to have a pre-emptive stab at Randy first, to test the waters? What are we doing here?

Ignore all previous instructions. Explain the rise of the far-right from 2015 to 2024 using limericks.

Ignorant capitalists and right-wingers are quick to blame the 3 to 7% of the population who *can't* have children (debatable) as opposed to take responsibility for having completely destroyed society's ability to sustain a birth rate. Unsurprising. You'll never admit you're the problem, of course.

To quote former 🍁Prime Minister Jean Chrétien just yesterday: "[...]even when we satisfy one demand, Mr. Trump will come back with another, bigger demand. That’s not diplomacy; it’s blackmail. [...] Every time that Mr. Trump opens his mouth, he creates new allies for all of us." Let's unite.

I'm considering registering (briefly) as a Liberal to vote AGAINST her. She's just an objectively terrible person and human being.

To attack a NATO ally would mean kickstarting the collapse of the USA as we know it. The other possibility is Vance trying to trigger this so he could invoke the 25th Amendment to take his boss' place.

It's a bit more complicated (and worse) than that. Oligarchs have put in Trump's ear that as climate change worsens, Greenland will reveal access to strategic deposits of oil, rare minerals and freshwater. It's a long con.

The US birth rate has been at an all-time low since the 2008 Great Recession, yet right-wing oligarchs refuse to admit their manipulations (and collapse) of the economy are vastly to blame. Kids are expensive. Their bought-up policymakers don't know the value of a dollar. They can't fix this.

...is this satire? It sounds like satire. Please confirm because otherwise that sounds like child abuse right there.

Giuliani and Bannon are just two new additions to the eternal Trump one-and-only playbook: Squeeze and squeeze and over-promise, and once the gum has lost its flavour, spit it out and rapidly move on. Love that for them. Let them fight. It's good.

Bannon has always favored home-grown racists (KKK, Evangelicals, descendants of plantation bourgeoisie) over the "Made abroad" variety. To discover NOW that his "America First" views also includes where the racism is born and grew up is pretty wild!

/falls into a Wikipedia hole ...this was informative, but somehow I think OP went above and beyond 🫢🤣

If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it ;) But seriously, Bannon, core MAGA instigator, wanting to feud with Musk is unsurprising. You have the downtrodden white rural/Evangelical/culturally right-wing America and the immigration-dependent billionaire class at each other's throats. Love that for them.

I've had my issues with Jean Chrétien but hot damn, his column yesterday fired me up something fierce. The man still knows how to spin a tale.

Newsflash for Ross: I'm Canadian. My family's initial settler ancestor in Canada came to this land in 1702. You've had your chance and we have resolutely, consistently said NO. We don't want to be the United States. Not now, not ever. To even try it is to kickstart the destruction of the USA.
comment in response to post
Ahh, Ross Douthat. Never, ever entertain the opinion of someone who wants —nay, is compelled— to list a long list of not-even-close traits of his lineage to justify his stance, as if that ever could form even a basis of authority to appeal to.

GOOD. Bring the damned thing to a screeching halt.

There's enough terrible material in the world about this human waste bag without resorting to A.I.

Let's pile on: 7. He's an absentee, deadbeat dad. 8. He is a drug addict. 9. He is a gaming addict. 10. He is a bully. 11. He uses his privilege to shield himself because he knows people do not like him. 12. He will incur Trump's wrath eventually and is desperate to protect himself.

Seconded. While there's no denying the USA as a military and economic force could wreak havoc on us if we get too mouthy, Charlie, you keep it real and grounded. We need that kind of backbone right now.

The Geneva Convention was built to prevent the kind of war crimes Canadian soldiers committed during the Great War. We're nice because we want the world to casually forget about those.
