It is quite weird and in many ways tremendously stupid. A lot of the decisions were made in the 1700s and have never been updated because we have a political class that believes the founders some religious figures (despite the founders explicitly stating they weren’t) and won’t let things change.

For it to be hitting news nationally or in Memphis, it’s likely fearmongering around how “horrible” NYC is or how “The Coastal Elites” want to take your freedoms away. Which no one here would agree with.

The only reasonable arguments folks up here have with it is that no money goes to help fund NJ Transit and there’s no way through the Holland Tunnel to Brooklyn/LI without extra fees.

As someone theoretically affected by the Manhattan congestion charges, the furor is all being fueled by a love of cars over people.

Aww, I miss Santo’s. I went to so many good shows there before the Nazis moved in.

But how do you live your life if not trying to get the financial high score? </sarcasm> So sayeth those who see the world as a Nash Equilibrium.

I complained the same complaint to my partner when we got our first toaster oven...and I butter but don't jam or spread. A crispy exterior and soft interior is key for toast. Anyone who wants toast that is dry throughout just wants stale bread.

Yeah. The cabbie that picked me up on the JC Waterfront was convinced that driving me to my McGinley Square apartment would encounter roving bands of hoodlums, but instead it was just quiet.

Fuck. I will never forget riding the ferry back to JC and seeing lower Manhattan lit by candlelight.

If only we could call them a name based on what they do: filmmakers.

Don’t lick the poles in the subway. Sideways are like the roads in rural America - if you need to look at something pull to the side and don’t stop in the middle of traffic. Your phone’s mapping application will help navigate mass transit. Use the mass transit. Don’t be a dick.
