It means the majority of the Senate is cool with tax cuts for the rich, even if Medicaid funding is touched.

6/5 And an update on the concept. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD0C...

@altnps.bsky.social - You have such a huge following. Consider sharing this "3.5%" rule" concept? (If 3.5% of Americans engaged in non-violent civil resistance we might turn this thing around.) tinyurl.com/c85yprs7 I mean, why wait, America?

I can NOT understand why any senator from a blue state is not invoking every single procedural set of brakes at every single opportunity. We'd still be fighting on nominations, instead of getting ready to discuss the SAVE Act. PLEASE SLOW THE ROLL if you care about saving democracy.

5/5 (Don't click the *picture* of the video, as I did several times. Scroll down and click "watch video" to see the TedTalk about the study.) And share this if you find it as surprising and inspiring as I did. www.nonviolent-conflict.org/resource/suc...

4/5 So should we start now, or wait until things get worse?
comment in response to post
3/5 It seems the magic number is 3.5%. That's the percentage of the population that needs to engage to make it effective.

2/5 A study of the last 100 years across the globe indicates non-violent resistance is actually more successful, more likely to result in a democracy, and that democracy is more likely to last. This applies even to the most brutal of regimes.

Evidently we can turn this whole thing around if just 12 million Americans commit to civil disobedience. I JUST learned this moments ago. I'm in! 11,999,999 people to go. www.nonviolent-conflict.org/resource/suc...

Boycotting the airlines to ultimately push them to demand changes to current slashing and privatization of FAA, NOAA, and others might be on *my* bingo card.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP allowing unanimous consent!
comment in response to post
Yes, I thought it odd, but she has since clarified her intent, so that's good.
comment in response to post
Appreciate the clarification. I have a mountain of books myself, and can barely keep up with the pile that grows faster than I can read. However, there's nothing wrong with asking questions of knowledgeable people. Sometimes they can... recommend a particular book!
comment in response to post
That's some ugly snark, all for the crime of asking a question of someone who clearly knows the answer.

Point: I want to be able to document my source when I discuss this lack of opposition, rather than only being able to say "I heard that..."
comment in response to post
Okay, maybe I'm missing something. I only find the results of actual votes. Did you see the unanimous consent you referred while to watching the proceedings live, or can you see it after the fact somewhere I haven't yet found on senate.gov? Appreciate your help!
comment in response to post
I check the voting on Senate.gov, but will dig deeper. Thank you!
comment in response to post
How does one follow these procedural steps? Is there a way other than watching the senate proceedings live? I need to learn more about the topic!

I'm going to guess it was $50, and then donor agreed to pay the surcharge for credit card or whatever?
comment in response to post
Have avian flu vaccines for chickens been addressed? Or is that for an @altusda.bsky.social account?
comment in response to post
Disappointed so few procedural roadblocks were used. That's not much of a fight.

Please HOLD THE FLOOR the full 30hours for all remaining nominees.

Ugh - didn't know that about Visa.

Thank you for the add'l info!

Are we gonna hold the floor again??

Curious about the suggestion that a credit union is better than a bank. I saw that somewhere else, but I'm unsure why.

While I encourage calls, we are way past this. Don't just call, but Show Up. EN MASSE. If you really, truly, positively, can't do an in person visit, then keep with the calling. And do what you can to enable and encourage those who are able to show up to actually do it.

4/4 So let's pick up the pace. @indivisible.org, can you give us the playbook for a nationwide action?
comment in response to post
3/4 This is behind a paywall, I think, but the short story is that we are headed down Orban's playbook, and Americans' IRL reaction simply isn't sufficient. (Hungary lost their democracy in 3 years. US seems to be fast tracking it.) www.pbs.org/video/januar...

2/4 While we're distracted by things like the Gulf of Mexico rebranding, other things are happening. Like the biggest voter suppression bill ever, which may even make it difficult for women who changed their names to vote. campaignlegal.org/update/what-...
