So what you’re saying is Deltarune tomorrow?
comment in response to post
Thanks, I was worried because my computer can't run games without Pluey. Thanks for being so thoughtful towards the niche parts of the fandom, Mr. Fox!

I have the opposite issue. I just don’t get notifications 😂. I mean, I get some, but my biggest complaint so far is that this app doesn’t support push notifications being activatable for users you follow, so I just need to periodically check in on everyone.

These are all experiences that physically can’t be created with movies or books, because they inherently require the consumer to be reaching through a window in the 4th wall in order for it to reach back and shake our hands. They are personal in a VERY specific way that other media cannot be. (4/4)

In addition, games LITERALLY integrate the player as a key role of the story. Sonic doesn’t run unless you tell him to, and Mario doesn’t save the princess. On the surface this doesn’t seem like much, but now consider meta games like OneShot or Undertale/Deltarune, DDLC, IMSCARED, and so on. (3/4)

In a movie, those things are always there, and have appeared in the screen of every person who has ever watched it, and so all that’s needed to find it is for somebody to point it out. Games, however, are much more involved, and require active participation instead of idle observation. (2/4)

I think it’s important to define what I mean by “personal experience” here, because it’s not like that. Games can LITERALLY have secrets hidden in them that no person has seen before. Things like ARGs or secret endings/routes or glitches or random seeds for Minecraft worlds or hidden dialogue. (1/4)

Video games are such a special art form because unlike movies and books, games can be personal. Every person can have a completely different experience with it and see things nobody else has, and no other art form could ever truly replicate that.

Ah, yes, the no-hit Chapter 1/2/3/4 + correlated Secret Bosses achievements! I can’t wait!

Do keep in mind that we already have a screenshot labeled as being from Chapter 4 that is in castle town, so we already know the weekend isn’t going to do much to stop us from getting in.

I WOULD agree if it weren’t for the fact that Toby pretty clearly implied it would only be a change present in Chapter 4, not previous ones. There seems to be a reason why the player would spend an extended period of time in the light world that is unique from previous chapters.

Maybe this will be a good chance to find a certain key that’s said to not exist anywhere in a “game” with an ice palace maze and a locked door at the end…?
comment in response to post
A reason to save and load in the light world? That’s concerning.
comment in response to post
Not the specifics, but something to do with “Inflation Rule 34” sounds particularly familiar to me

This is what you get when you search “Undertale Thirst Trap” on Google and click images. Nothing else, certainly.

You’ll get your water when you finish chapter 92 of Deltarune! Now get back to work!

Thank you Toby for changing the stone (aka Delta’ing the Rune) for us, I can’t wait to see what you changed it into.

So when the player chooses to give up, the world is covered in darkness, forced to meet its inevitable fate. That is the one ending. It’s the literal “end”. But, maybe there’s more important things than reaching the end. Maybe we can build a new future instead, with the power of our Determinism.
comment in response to post
But just as light is not but without dark, the ability to change is not without the assumption of a fixed state. “Delta Rune”- “to make change in what is set in stone”- it’s exactly why we are there. The role of the player in games always has been to stop the end of the world, after all.

Apparently I’m not able to proofread for repeated words in sentences lol.

Who said I was feeling sorry for myself? I was sharing my experience with taking new meds for the first time, that was a rather passive aggressive response response. The last sentence was meant as “these work so well, I wish people had told me how useful these were sooner”, but character limit.

I do that for everyone as long as they’re close enough behind me that doing so wouldn’t look weird (or if they’re carrying something big). It’s not much but I firmly believe that if everyone committed 10 seconds to save somebody else some time in their lives each day, the world would be much better.

Are you saying there's a reason we may want to keep our eggs to ourselves 🤔

I bow to you, computer Jesus, please teach me your ways

Being genuinely happy about having more logs tossed onto his narcissism bonfire is hardly what I’d call getting off his high horse, even everyone else is shocked/annoyed that you gave it to Berdly
comment in response to post
It’s pre-him getting off his high horse. I’ll give one to him post chapter 2 if presented the opportunity, but no sooner

So only Noelle then? Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said our choices didn’t matter.

All indie forever! ChefRPG, Peglin, Undertale/Deltarune, etc. I’m working out some early drafts of the story and mechanics for a creation of my own, but it’s too early to say much about it. I have a lot to say with the story though, this will ultimately be my Deltarune; my obsession.

It even helped me to correct an issue I was having with writing a protagonist for a game story I’m working on, so thanks for the inspiration @teamfourstar.bsky.social! (2/2)

Toby is REALLY pushing the boundaries for what he can publish on the internet while still having people try to theorize about it, and so far, I think he’s winning

Toby please you’re confusing the poor theory crafters. You already broke them with Friend Inside Me, what could you possibly expect to gain from this?!
