The simple definition of "tenure," used in this sense, is the length of time someone holds a position. Hwvr, we use it more to reference people who have been, or are in, positions of some duration already. Hegseth started at the Pentagon Jan. 26. "From bad to worse" in about 3 weeks. Some tenure!
