In 2019 Nigel Farage's Brexit Party voted against plans to tackle Russian propaganda, calling claims of Russian interference "scare stories" One of his MEPs was Nathan Gill, who has just been accused in court of taking bribes in exchange for defending Russia in the European Parliament

Whatā€™s with the whole ā€œappearing to make a Nazi saluteā€ thing? If it walks like a Nazi ā€¦

ā€œThe factcheck-free world of Meta, Musk, Donald Trump and Nigel Farage is now the language of British Conservatism.ā€

I see three distinct phases. Pre-Fox, when opinion was diverse but actual facts were indisputable. Fox/Trump, where objective truth was subjected to the false equivalence of ā€˜alternative factsā€™ (ie lies). And now, where media & tech platform owners collude with him to drown out the truth altogether.

Here is the key section of that train wreck of an interview by Robert Jenrick on #r4today. Robinson: Did you raise it when you were Home Office minister? Jenrick: We talked about it... I wasn't... My portfolio... But we talked about it. Only a minute, if you can bear it. ~AA

So, the Tory manifesto did not include an inquiry into grooming gangs and the Tories ignored ALL recommendations from the 2022 report, but they attack Starmer for smearing ā€œthose concernedā€ as ā€œfar rightā€. Which he didnā€™t. Theyā€™re just the most repulsive bunch of arseholes. And far right apologists.

Sir Keir Starmer was singled out for praise in the 2022 report. The far right singularly fail to mention this fact.

Your reminder that neither the Conservative Party nor Reform UK called for a new inquiry into grooming gangs in their manifestos just six months ago. I wonā€™t bother searching for editorials from the same period but I donā€™t imagine such calls were there either

Telling that Starmer's response focused on the tweets about Jess Phillips rather than himself. Systems and policies matter, but never underestimate the importance of having a genuinely decent human being in charge.

Once again, when the Tories are given an opportunity to show some principled backbone, they refuse to take it. Their craven, Musk-appeasing racism, Tommy-Robinson-themed opportunism and failure to support Jess Phillips are all you need to know about the rancid mess that is Badenochā€™s nasty party.

Iā€™m completely sure that Farage would love to welcome Tommy Robinson into the Reform fold. But heā€™s conscious that this would play out negatively in the less extreme lunatic fringes (do they exist?!) as well of course, in the msm. Heā€™s a chancer pure and simple.

The deranged and dangerous attacks on Keir Starmer and Jess Phillips need the strongest possible slap down from ALL political parties - here and in the USA. And if you still have a Twitter account please, please deactivate it.

"Elon Musk is supporting a far-right party suspected of extremism by Germanyā€™s own courts & intelligence officials; a party too extreme even for Marine Le Pen; a party filled with people who meet with, defend, & quote Nazis." My latest, with receipts on the AfD that Musk doesn't want you to see:

The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ā€˜hystericsā€™ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity

All the Big Government Reforms the Media Hasnā€™t Been Telling You About bylinetimes.com/2024/12/20/l...

Still, at least we live in a country where people who went to prison for assaulting their girlfriend can become Reform Party Members of Parliament.

Hang on, Labour building affordable housing that we desperately need is being slated as a ā€œcontroversialā€ by the media? Having already been slated for *checks notes* stopping race riots and paying nurses/ teachers properly? Those evil bastards. What will they do next? Give schoolkids breakfast?

www.itv.com/news/2024-12... Member of the House of Lords gets a THREE WEEK ban only for calling an Asian colleague Lord Poppadom. Do we really want people like this making our laws? Overhaul of the whole rotten system long overdue.

What a bunch of greedy multimillionaire, tax dodging, whiny little pricks.

ā€œMigrants, illegal or legal, werenā€™t responsible for austerity. They werenā€™t responsible for Brexit. They werenā€™t responsible for Liz Trussā€™ failure. Because of populist policies in the ā€˜30s Hitler was elected. If we follow the same blaming of migrants we will go the same wayā€ #bbcqt

The RWM are spending a huge amount of time and effort trawling through past lives of every single labour politician hoping for anything, ANYTHING that they can splash on their front pages no matter how unnewsworthy. This will continue until the next GE. Grasp the mettle Starmer: bring on Leveson 2

"Like many other parts of the world, the UK is in the firm grip of an epidemic of disinformation and misinformation" A good list of origins of the problem - and tools we need to combat it.

UK police forces quietly withdraw from X platform amid content concerns. Nov 26 (Reuters) - Several British police forces have largely withdrawn from Musk's X media platform as concerns over its role in promoting violence & extreme content. www.reuters.com/technology/u...

Excellent thread on one of those "poor farmers" affected by the inheritance tax thing.... .... who also used to moonlight as the head of the stock exchange

This is a key constituent of fascism & the very essence of ā€˜Muskismā€™: promoting bullshit, silencing truth-tellers & calling the whole grift ā€˜free speechā€™. Twitter as a rehearsal for the USA.

So hereā€™s the update. The billionaire owner of the Guardian preparing to get rid of a core part of the news org + 100 journalists. If youā€™re a Guardian or Observer reader, please share this. The need for a strong, free & independent press couldnā€™t be greater. Yet, here it is.

The disposable society. And a day out with the CBI www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

FFS. When will this assault on ordinary, hard-working Brits end?

For a ā€˜geniusā€™ he sure spouts a load of bollocks

He downplayed the incident as a "teenage indiscretion". No. A teenage indiscretion is getting drunk on cheap cider and throwing up on your mumā€™s best carpet

And donā€™t forget all the jewels and art. If they flogged a few tiaras they could probably rescue the nhs

Matthew Bourneā€™s Swan Lake at the Lowry last night. Absolutely magnificent. šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»

The Tory way - profiteering before protection.

To be clear: It's Ā£1m untaxed, plus Ā£325k of standard tax free inheritance. You can double that if the farmer is married. So farmers can hand down Ā£2.65m tax free, and their kids pay 20% on everything else. Tax on your job is 40% over Ā£50k "Land owner" is not a job šŸ§µ
