“You can build all the dick rockets you want to go to Mars while you try to leave the rest of us on the burning Earth. We’re gonna take control. This is our world, and it’s our government, and it’s our money.”
— Sara Nelson, Association of Flight Attendants president

Funny, I was just in the Hiller Highlands neighborhood of Oakland today. It's totally rebuilt now, much the way it was before except the houses look a bit newer.

Imagine being president but your constituency were just workers, and what you can do with that.

I really don't think they do. They were backing the nominee, and I have no doubt that they'll back Harris.

There’s been an organizing effort to get the LA City Council to call for a ceasefire, which looks like it’s hasn’t gone pretty well.

I think there's a general aversion to politics by a certain class of folks in the dem/liberal establishment. Politics requires coalition building and collective consensus, and I think's scary for some people because it's harder to control what demands come out of that process.

Stephens is repeatedly unable to substantively respond to the specific points Jamelle is making and resorts to cliches like "there are no certainties in life, football or politics."

A lot of people don't like the pills because they worry that others will see it and make assumptions about their sexual orientation or even assume that they have HIV. Right now you have to find a medical professional who can give you the injection. Being able to self-administer would be even better.

Yeah, it's awesome, and we are already seeing people asking about it here in Los Angeles.

We've had oral formulations of this exact drug for a dozen years now and we still have HIV transmission happening today. It's exciting that patients will get another option and it should increase the numbers of people using PrEP, but many structural barriers remain.

Lived in Portland for six years, visited Hood River many times - I had no idea there was a giant lava flow sitting there!

As a 720 rider, I wonder if there will he attempts to cite drivers for using the bus lane as their own express lane. Cracking down on that behavior would make bus trips even faster.

District 4 was altered to purposefully reduce the number of renters among her constituents which helped make up Nithya's base in her previous election victory. Assuming the lead holds, the efforts have failed.

I work at UCLA, and forwarded this screenshot to the chancellor and demanded an institutional response. What will actually happen, no idea.

This has been the issue for the last 8 years, which is why the measure has a clause allowing people to sue the city for not following the new rules set out in this ordinance, and be awarded litigation costs. Not sure if NYC has that!

Yeah, RIP the extensive street car lines that we used to have. We need a version of HLA that forces LA to build rail lines itself instead of using private contractors.
