it's so fun. Something about the round structure/weapons/maps captures that feeling of early online gaming where people didn't know how to be tryhards.

love the proportions on this, and alpha cutout arrows are a nice touch

looks like really fun terrain for a ride! been ages since I went, makes me want to try again

that's great :D thank you!

Thanks so much for playing! Yeah I'm running a sneaky lowkey playtest as the game still has a ways to go, just looking to get the earliest feedback. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the game if you haven't already :)

I wish that at least one of the Steam competitors would realize the absolute baseline is having a good client app. They always throw together an ugly, bloated web browser disguised as an app that simultaneously has no features. People who play games care about UX!

This sounds so sick, it's honestly exactly what I want them to do with the formula. Throwing together a fresh build each run sounds so fun.

hey it's cool to find you on bsky! I believe some of your dungeon dioramas populate my inspo boards for the game I'm working on :) These look rad!

fantastic, can't believe I'm only just seeing this now. Can't believe how detailed the environments are at such a large scale!

so excited for this

When the cost of hiring an artist would be a tiny fraction of the total production cost, why do you think they do it? "Testing the waters" feels a bit conspiratorial to me. I'm wondering if it's just lazyness of a couple individuals who don't feel like involving someone else in the process?

looks like an editor for the perfect game: a mix of wc3 and populous: the beginning

Thanks so much for the shout! Can't wait to see ALL the games 😁

thanks so much! Haha yeah it took a lot of time to get the system working right. A mix of canned animations, bendy-bones responding to impacts, and impacts physically moving the target.

Thank you good to hear! I gotta try out your demo -- especially if you're taking any inspiration from Downwell, one of my faves!

thanks :D yeah ADS is such a satisfying modern innovation, too good to give up, at least for precision-oriented weapons.

so cool! I haven't even played SMO, but this looks great. I hope there's a really satisfying (twangy?) sound for the poke.

love it, the cheeks being soft red instead of a hard dot make it look like he's just a bit embarrassed to be here, in such a state

totally agree, pretty much all games had that workflow. I think the difference I see with VS is that the pixelled-over details are more forward and on lots of textures compared to the average PS1 game. And maybe it wasn't very visible on the original hardware, but it sure looks nice now!

excellent material! I've done some studying of them for my project. Something notable is how the textures seem to have photo or handpainted base layers, but then manual pixel art details are added on top. Those single-pixel width details really add to the precision of this unique style!

i think OnlyPosts might be what you need! bsky.app/profile/skyf...

Looks good on phone, not great on desktop, like pretty much any video I've seen on this platform. Native gif support would be real nice.

Are games that already have Steam pages still interesting for publishers to pick up? Since I've seen it - when is it beneficial for both dev+pub to make such a deal?

Hey I remember you posting this in David's shack, it looks cool! Angry birds + deck builder sounds fun

this design is so cool! Really fantastic job with the dynamics on the hair, it's so fun to have a good system for that - adds so much flavor to movement. Looking forward to seeing where this project goes :)

haha amazing! The sounds are perfect for this guy gliding across the floor to be fair. I have to fix a bunch of issues with my flyers too, they're the worst!
comment in response to post
oops thanks I knew this but forgot

ugh even if it's unplayable, I want whatever build they used for that video to leak so badly! I wonder if it still exists. The graphics look so neat.

At the risk of this cuppa putting me into an endless slumber where my dreams are consumed? sure why not.
