Just got offered a job managing a local print shop. Some mixed emotions as its a step-back from game devage, but its decent money & still graphics work. I'd keep convincing myself I'm not a sell-out but it's a small business so don't think I have to. Pretty chuffed with myself in all

Interesting topic. What was the earliest game you remember playing that made you think "this is art"

Anyone need a good music recommendation? This one comes complete with the mind-bending mascot character Johnny the Mighty Tior. Riot. Listen to the happy hard rock of Riot

I do appreciate people saying kind things. But when I say, "What's the point?" I mean the fun of a parody, of one thing in the style of another, is the time and effort squandered on the details of something absurd. Without the effort, it's not absurd, it's just pointless.

PITCH: A version of There Will Be Blood that actually is about drinking other people's milkshakes.

A New Recompilation Tool Is Being Developed To Enable Native PC Ports Of PS2 Games. (Repost)

I woke up from sleep, bolted upright in bed, and thought I had an incredible idea no one had ever had before

Finally a bunch of bees have shown up in my garden. Was really worried. Welcome my little buzzy brethren. Fuck all the flowers

This is a really good way of looking at art -- "The conversational partner changed" is SUCH a good way of phrasing how I personally see art/writing/music/etc. Original post: www.tumblr.com/shinesurge/7...

Stuff like this is perfect because it shows how utterly devoid of creativity genAI evangelists are. Great you recreated a photo that already exists in a drawing style that only has currency because of who you're stealing it from giving the world something with absolutely no value or meaning.

this reads like a shitpost but i am living it

Today's minute(ish) of brilliant animation is from Alice, by Jan Švankmajer. I was reminded about Švankmajer yesterday. I had previously included a clip from a short in this series of brilliant clips, but this is from his uneasy full length version of Alice in Wonderland.

GAMEDEV EASY MODE Character levitates off the ground, the air crackles around them. Magic suddenly erupts from their eyes, the pulsating beam hits a distant tower which explodes in an suitable cinematic way. GAMEDEV HARD MODE Character kicks their slippers off & picks up their phone from the table.

Why frame an article about online gaming toxicity with a picture of an Arcade? Leave Arcades alone they're an endangered species

hate when people complain about bluesky being too boring without fighting and bullshit. like, my boy, this peace is what all true warriors strive for

A lot of white vans out on the roads. Probably more than ever, & I still always assume that they're driven by nonces

After 2yrs living next door to my elderly neighbour & only sharing brief pleasantries, bringing in her grabage etc. I finally had a full conversation with her. Turns out she's really fucking racist

"Eugene's Nightmare" Another tribute to that wonderful little 8 bit micro from the 1980s... the ZX Spectrum #ZXSpectrum #retrogames #8bitretro #pixelart

So I just got into one of these 10ft tall animatronic dinosaurs & I don't think I've ever felt so at home in my life. I could easily sleep in that thing

Shit remake of Back to the Future but they use a Cyber Truck instead of a Delorian. It can only travel back to 1938

It's impossible to make an Open World game that isn't funny. Be it intentional or not. In this thread I will discuss...

This is amazing. Recompiling tools for Xbox 360 games. You can now make a PC port of any 360 game github.com/hedge-dev/Xe...

For the record, I don't wear suits either. Suits are worn by politicians, salesmen, gameshow hosts & bridegrooms. None of whom can be trusted.

This looks fucking sweet www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkMF...

After a decade of "cleaning up" and "restoring" tiny printed screenshots of lost media I've somehow come out the other end and started appreciating the print dots. I think it makes them feel more real, and highlights the fragility of games that might be gone forever.

Kicking off #ScreenshotSaturday reposting my own work (before I repost other peeps' stuff). Been trying to get myself excited about working on this again; where my hype crew at? If you love the look of my arcade-style elimination platformer MycoBOOM! then speak up! #gamedev #indiegames #retrogames

I still have that 6-Pack & amazed that the tape isn't warped, got played so much. Biggles, Dun Darach & Earth Shaker all high quality games. BTTF3 was a fun demo & Switchblade could be my fav home computer platform game ever. Imagine if subsequent Playstation cover discs came with complete games?

i want games with pretty pixel art and weird mechanics borrowed from old 7/10s and i want everyone involved to make a living wage and i'm not kidding

Someone asked this on The Everything App so I'm sharing here too just in case others had this concern: Wishlisting a game on Steam (or PS/Xbox) does not mean you have to purchase that game there! No obligation, it's almost like signing up to a little newsletter for that game!

We're stoked to introduce the 'No Gen AI' seal for indie games! Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI. You can grab it from the Polygon Treehouse website:- www.polygon-treehouse.com/no-gen-ai-seal

I see people saying this sort of thing often, and quite frankly it makes me sad. The truth is, more people are making good adventure games now than were ever made during the “golden age” of the 90s. For example: 🧵

check out some great and super helpful people

#MadeWithGodot: jw-otto made an arcade machine where the player draws their character on paper and then it appears within the game! 🎮 How cool is that?! www.reddit.com/r/godot/comm... #gaming #godotengine #gamedev #3DPrinting #arcade #indiedev

Game's been out for a good while now, but I feel like it deserves more love: NEKONECRO was hand-drawn, ink on paper, over the course of four long years. It's also a fine platform game to boot! #screenshotsaturday #indiegames #gamedev #illustration #comics store.steampowered.com/app/2096580/...

It's hard to express how much is going on here and what a big deal it is. We've been building toward this for over 8 years now, and we genuinely built a video game history research tool that is usable by anyone. We're democratizing game research through a free, no-bullshit, human-curated resource.

For today's brilliant piece of minute(ish) animation I chose a clip from Richard Williams' "Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure"(1977). The Greedy (aka The Taffy Monster) is an amazing piece of animation.

Starter Packs should be useful or hilarious. go.bsky.app/Hxoz9KX “To be included directors must have a live, relevant URL in their bio, be relatively active on Bluesky, and be hiring illustrators and/or designers on a regular basis throughout the year.” If that’s you pls raise your hand.
