I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The best way to stop people coming into the country illegally is to allow pre-asylum applications from British embassies throughout the world. Yesterday a case of mine finally ended. The offending was 2009-2016. D pleaded guilty during the pandemic. It was white collar crime, so his co-defendant’s trial was deprioritised and put back several times over the years before being dropped. Eight years, it all took. Eight.
