“Drill baby, drill” 🫣

Can anyone make sense of the coverage of this, versus the previous government’s conflicts of interest with actual tax payers’ money, or Johnson partying with ex-KGB agents? 🤷‍♂️

“It’s putting millions into the pockets of people smugglers” 🤦‍♂️ 👏 THAT. 👏 IS. 👏 MONEY. 👏 THEY. 👏 WOULD. 👏 RATHER 👏 PAY. 👏 US. 👏 TO. 👏 COME. 👏 HERE. 👏 SAFELY. …AND SOLVE MANY OF OUR PROBLEMS #NHS 👍 …WHILE PAYING TAX 💰 Putting aside morality, it just seems financially dumb to carry on like this.

The time to do this was 4 years ago.

To be fair to the SCJs, they recently “discovered” that Trump can order Seal Team 6 to execute them if he gets fed up with their rulings, and immediately replace them with more amenable justices. So there’s that…

To be fair to the Republican SCOTUS, if it wasn’t for their ability to read between the lines of the US Constitution we would never have realised that George Washington and co were in fact staunch monarchists. All this time! 🤦‍♂️

Was discussing this the other day at work. A LOT of thought has gone into the design of our invoices to look “official”, as otherwise we might not get paid…? “Sorry folks, we’d like to pay you but that total isn’t in 14pt bold and your font isn’t on our list. Thanks for your hard work though!”
comment in response to post
And what protection does the constitution offer for the case of a majority of SCOTUS acting in bad faith, or interpreting the constitution in way clearly at odds with its purpose? (I’m pretty sure Washington et al were not pro-monarchist).

“This guy failed”. “No, that small group of people did it.” “It’s because that one failed to do their job.” Is anyone ready to discuss the possibility that the US Constitution has failed? Either it has been followed, or it hasn’t and the self protections built in have not worked. Either way…

Scientists quietly performing miracles 👀 : “Giving teenagers the HPV vaccine is cutting cases of cervical cancer by 90%, figures for England show. Scientists say it works so well that this type of cancer could be eradicated in the near future.” 4th most common cancer in women worldwide 💥 Next!

It’s why I roll my eyes every time I hear “Cost Of Living Crisis” - as though the cost of living is beyond human control, like the weather. We have a Greed Crisis. Call it what it is.

I was yelling at everyone else! 👍

“Evens out” = 15-2!!! I remember the game, but if they don’t take risks and instead play “sensibly” they’re just gonna lose by 1 point because of some ridiculous call / no call - I’d rather see them lose because they were playing exciting football and it didn’t work out. Anyway, LETS GO LIONS! 👍 🦁
comment in response to post
To lose a championship game you need to first be IN the championship game. How often was that happening before Dan came along? You can have the Same Old Lions or the CrAzY Dangerous New Lions. I know which I prefer! 🦁

I dunno what the Lions have to do before people stop calling MCDC stupid, but I’d like to find out…

I love R4, but I can’t listen to Nick Robinson.

It’s terrifying that it’s been allowed to reach this point.

I guess it depends on how bad you think the courts situation is, and how likely you think the government will tackle more than one priority - rather than dealing with the easier / cheaper one to distract from the difficult expensive one. See Pet Abduction Act 2025.
comment in response to post
It’s a compelling case, but surely the only priority right now should be dealing with the incredible backlog in the court system, which is close to collapse. It’s taking years for serious crimes to reach trial - including rape and domestic abuse.

@yvettecooper-mp.bsky.social “told members of the Home Affairs Select Committee that expanding legal routes is not an alternative to enforcement.” 1) It literally is. 2) Could you clarify what legal routes you would expand? They would have to exist first to be expanded, no?

Customary “just checking she’s warm enough” sweep is complete; crucial early step to check for traps, trip wires, etc.

I think what people are asking for is a buzzer when time expires - not when the clock shows whatever, but actually 0.00 seconds left. The refs guessing the length of the last second, while looking at the ball and the clock at the same time is a strange approach. Could just be in the ref’s earpieces.

I think part of your problem here is that so few other companies actually deliver the quality of support that QLab does. If I email other (£££) software support I typically get a reply days later from someone who has never done my job, quoting a thing I already read from the docs that doesn’t help!

Why do I get the feeling that the bills going up bit will happen, but the waterways clean up bit won’t?
comment in response to post
We’re going to find out, because the Lions are going to the playoffs 👍 There are other teams with “sensible” coaches who will not be in the playoffs. I’ll stick with Campbell, and if they lose, it won’t be because he was scared of looking silly - and it sure as hell won’t be boring!
comment in response to post
They’re 12-2, despite being ripped with injuries. If a decision making process means you win 85% of the time (tied best in the conference, 2nd in the NFL), that’s a “bone headed” approach?
comment in response to post
It’s weird seeing people suggest MCDC will be the reason the Lions won’t appear in the Super Bowl, when the only reason their appearance is even a possibility is MCDC… 🤷‍♂️ Maybe we should get Matt Patricia back?
comment in response to post
At the point that you’re certain that an on side kick is required to win the game (it clearly was), it makes sense to double your chances by attempting one earlier like that. It meant the (very small) chance of success was doubled. Bold, but not stupid.

Try not to look for any kind of logic, sense or realism in the MI6 storyline and you’ll be fine.
