Man he really called it

This question should be all the Democrats ask for the current news cycle.

A lesson in how claims of meritocracy as justification for opposing DEI are often cover for the demand that we return to a system of preference for white men - whatever their qualifications. Fire a qualified Black man. Hire a statutorily unqualified white man. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Democrats are fundamentally misunderstanding the moment: We're not asking them to be *legislators* right now. We need them to be *politicians.* There's nothing to be done about the legislative situation. They're right about that. But there's PLENTY to be done as politicians.

NYT is absolutely infuriating

who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE WHO IS THE ADMINISTRATOR OF DOGE???????

Ugh. Appalling story. (But great reporting, as usual, from @stevanzetti.bsky.social .) www.texasobserver.org/ice-prosecut...

Unfortunately, this is the last 70+ years of conservative politics if we count white flight from public schools after the Brown v. Board of Education decision. It was the essence of Reaganism in the 1980s as well

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

These are Fort Campbell-based 101st Airborne Division soldiers escorting the Little Rock Nine in 1957. Fort Campbell is erasing *its own* history.

Every Democrat should be saying this every day. Several times each day.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social: "The question is can you work with Republicans in the middle of a constitutional crisis when democracy is on the line? And right now, I think that this crisis is serious and deepening in its seriousness, that our job #1, #2, and #3 is to save our democracy."

Fucking outrageous

absolutely so fucking mad that we're shredding Atlanticism, abandoning the Atlantic Charter, all for absolutely fucking nothing

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges. This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

A historic graphic of corruption. The 11 federal agencies so far targeted for firings or dismantling by Elon Musk have more than 30 ongoing investigations into his companies. (📸 Malika Khurana for NYT)

This is so incredibly, goofily stupid—a slapstick level of dumbass, self-defeating, wasteful procurement even if it’s somehow not as corrupt as it looks—but I suspect absolutely no one is going to prevent it from happening. What an embarrassment. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

No it hasn’t. The federal government filed a civil suit—echoing the same theory of liability on which the first Trump administration *lost* in most of the courts to hear it. To say DOJ “filed charges” is to deliberately make it sound more significant and threatening than it actually is.

My local grocery store:

I know this is a tired, cliched gripe these days, but if Biden had said something as remotely dumbass there would've been days upon days of stories about how he's too old and feeble to be in office.

Jacobs: It's so funny to me that my colleagues on the other side spent 30 minutes talking about how we don't want unelected bureaucrats making these rules when they're literally allowing a unelected Elon Musk run roughshod over congress' power of the purse

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: an administration (and its supporters) who believe that they are not limited by the rule of law have no moral or philosophical claim to the protection of the rule of law. “The law is whatever we say it is” warrants the same in response.

Trump on federal spending: "I say it in front of our attorney general -- there's no chance that there's not kickbacks or something going on."

Wall Street's touching the stove moment might end up being not tariffs or debt default, but rather DOGE techbros causing a bank run by carelessly demonstrating they can now yank funds out of commercial bank accounts on a whim. A very pure distilled demonstration of no rule of law, no capitalism.

In response to headline “Cruz-Led Investigation Uncovers $2 Billion in Woke DEI Grants at NSF, Releases Full Database” I want to re-emphasize that all these grants were public record and written in response to public solicitations supporting DEI content. No “uncovering” or “releasing” was done here

BREAKING: We are suing DOGE and the Office of Personnel Management to stop the brazen and illegal data sharing of federal employee data with the “government efficiency” group.

I'm sorry but they're gutting the Dept of Education, rolling out plans for mass deportations--including sending migrants to Guantanamo--dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the NLRB, and the Atlantic's first issue of the Trump era is "How Progressives Froze the American Dream"?

THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ILLEGALLY FIRED FEMA OFFICIALS AFTER ELON MUSK TOLD LIES ABOUT THEM. jfc it's not that hard!

"The enormity of Defendants’ actions cannot be overstated." Please read this paragraph in court case filed on Monday.⬇️ Details the devastating, immediate and far-reaching, real-world impacts of the #USAID funding freeze. From famine to counternarcotics and counter-terrorism programs, more.

Trump started condemning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act long before he rode down a golden escalator. He's finally halting enforcement of the law, opening the door to more corruption, which has become a running theme of his second term. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Happy International Day of Women in Science. The National Science Foundation’s list of flagged words includes both “Women” and “Female.”

Hey UnitedHealth: this makes you look even worse. Come at me.

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?

@wyden.senate.gov: “I’m convinced this ‘read only’ matter is just a blatant lie. Later reporting showed the Musk henchmen were going in there to cut off payments they didn’t like… people need to know, these are the elements of a coup.”

Another glowing review for Kash Patel 🙄
