I stay because I've always wanted to be a helper and that's the best part about the city. Being able to help and be community with a lot of people and have access to a lot of cultural experiences.
But I get it. I sometimes long for a quiet woodland farm and a small modest house.

When I watched this doc, it got to the statement she said in court.
She said "I have no way of atoning verbally for the things that I have done."
I wish I had never fed her that word. She appropriated it & could never understand how to atone. If anyone believed that she was sorry...she is not.

I remember giving her some money years back to get a couple Pokemon toys for my kids in Japan. I can't recall how much they were, but I remember feeling like I paid way too much for them. And she got 2 of the same toy that seemed like a clearance toy. ??? I thought it was weird.

I started thinking back on our interactions. Being at SDCC & she'd have a cane but walked for hours & hours. We went out for drinks with a somewhat famous person, but the walk was going to be quite a distance. She said she would go & walked with us, keeping a normal speed. Partied the whole night.

She would shortly after ask me for a small loan.
I think I had just lost my job and I was raising 2 kids.
I said nope.
That was it.
I was done.

I tried to help her come clean. To my words, "atone" for it. I helped her get into treatment for suicide prevention. This is true, she went, I picked her up. After she got out I pushed her to give me the pills she said she was going to OD on. Long story short, she handed me a fairly empty bottle.

Yeah, true. For a lot of people that's a good option. Like I said, I'm trying to find affordable options. But I'm not a huge fan of most tofu. It's a texture thing for me & I can usually tell the difference. I can manage sometimes if the brand is right, but those tend to be the more procey options.

I want to ask hard questions but know the answer is, it is difficult to keep yourself while trying to chase success in content production.
I started this profile w/the intent to focus on production goals, but it's changed & made me question how I can best serve my community & myself simultaneously.

We got it several years ago (I think 2019?) on what I call Black Black Friday (a Friday after Halloween). I think I paid maybe $20 for it? Tall and skinny. Perfect for our small space.

People with money can afford to go on trips like this to find something scarce. Which is really the thing, isn't it? Not the cost. The cosplaying as poverty bound, but being able to afford to drive a long distance to get something.

Right, but for families where that was the affordable option, now there's nothing to really replace it. Especially if you grew up & that was your protein option. Personally, I'm having to seek out other stuff as well as I need protein for my work (construction) & working out (family health concerns)

The stores near us are constantly sold out of eggs. It's wild.

Bought a 60 pk several weeks ago, had to pay $27. That's insane, but it was the cheapest route we could go. Since then we've been using them sparingly cuz we're super afraid of being able to access eggs again. Like, we're about to make Yorkshire pudding tonight and I feel like it may be our last.

There's a reason he surrounds himself with young "genius" proteges 🙄 it's because they're easy to manipulate into doing what you want because all you gotta do is pat them on the head and say "no, you're smart & brave despite being fired for doing bad shit". Then he'll throw them under the bus.

I laugh when they say "merit based" every time cuz I've seen the result of nepotism and legacy scholars in one of my past jobs. Y'all ever get annoyed that you're working your ass off as the office manager for $18.50/hr while the high paid sales team plays coffee mug mini golf in their office space?

The truth is, this is what they want. They want to siphon money to their lost causes that enrich billionaire hoarders. They want to sit on their mountains of gold and breathe down fire at those who suffer.
Your stories of fiction were a warning. You should have listened.

My heart is so heavy here. I have seen people work so hard to get out of poverty, get stable, get treatment, manage their addictions...these programs WORK! And now we are planning on gutting them?
They can't tax Amazon & big corps in Seattle enough to support the good work we do.

I was able to learn a trade (attended carpentry classes during the day, worked at night at tiny house villages), so I felt it my obligation to give back to the community that lifted me up. I am so proud of the work I do. I can't imagine being forced out of my meaningful work. But I'm bracing.

As someone who works for homeless services, this will decimate our work. Not just for the people who are homeless & getting into permanent housing, but for those who found jobs in this system and were lifted out of poverty.

Bitch ass mother fucker. Your wife left you because you suck. And now you're making that everyone else's problem. You hurt others because of your own insecurities and that's apparent. Go to therapy and leave trans people alone.

I said the conversation ended. You clearly have some xenophobia that you need to tend to and I no longer want to be a part of that. Talk to your "Muslim friend" about your thoughts. Not me. It's not welcome here.
comment in response to

Come on. A slippery slope argument? That's not gunna happen. And you've bought into a lie that you've been told to fear. It's called xenophobia. And it's just as powerful as homophobia. I suggest the conversation end and you reflect on that.

So you have animus towards immigrants as a whole? Seems weird that you'd take that stance. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
comment in response to
post
I don't think that's true. And often those are the same people as immigrants are fleeing persecution from being queer in their own countries, amongst other things. And you can care about both issues.

Yeah. I raised an eyebrow the other day when he posted a pro-AI thing. It's making me wanna barf. They wanna be common people so bad, but they always reveal that they're never gunna be like us, ever.

Money spent should not be compulsory and it's the reason we have anti-trust laws and anti-monopoly laws.

Yes. And those who aren't a part of the agenda of diversity, equity & inclusion as a standard can probably fuck off too if they're blaming me for not wanting to spend my money somewhere else instead of being mad at a corporation for giving an orange blow job to an authoritarian. Next question.
