Last night, did you see it? The signal went up

New Reform mayor vows to sack council’s diversity officers - except there aren’t any: David Maddox www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

One reason I love "Lunch with the FT" is the way it can't help reinforce national stereotypes. Active US/UK politicians always have quick cheap lunches to avoid looking out of touch. In France, Jean-Luc Melenchon goes for a 3.5 hour lunch with three heavy courses and wine.

Look at these, my child-bearing hips Look at these, my ruby red, ruby lips Look at these my work strong arms and You've got to see my bottle full of charm I lay it all at your feet You turn around and say back to me, "he said"

Albo’s up, please!

Not often an Ed Davey stunt is so subtle that it needs explaining 😀

“I like my core voters and their way of life”. Revolutionary! Could it catch on?

Er, relatedly has anyone noticed that Kemi has quite a thin majority?

Looks like Peter Dutton is heading to a dark place (yep, deleting my account as we speak)

Australian elections hit harder

"Get me a picture of Australians voting." "No that's too Australian".

New post just out: "Terminal Decline" My review of a dramatic set of elections and what it means for all of the parties. (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/t...

What Sam is basically saying in the 2nd paragraph can loosely be translated to "SHOULDA LISTENED TO OLD BOLESY YER DAFT MUGS".

My favourite thing about local elections is when @robertshrimsley.bsky.social pronounces. "The Conservatives can no longer be in any doubt. The world’s most successful party is currently losing a fight to the death" on.ft.com/42WzSf3

"we are on course and recovering"

It's been a month since Kemi did an event that Getty thought was worth sending a photographer to.

"and how long would this take to get to say Lincolnshire as an example?"

BBC PROJECTED NATIONAL SHARES: Reform 30 Lab 20 Lib Dem 17 Cons 15 Greens 11 Oth 7 Reform's 30 is best ever for a third party, exceeding high water mark of LDs in mid 2000s. Cons 15 (and 4th) worst ever. Lab 20 joint worst ever.

Lot of people asking what impact Reform running councils will have on their popularity. There are reasons to think it won't be smooth sailing. A lot of political novices taking over in challenging circs, and in the past Farage party councillors have often split or left in large numbers

Reform gaining control of a host of councils now - Durham, Nottinghamshire, Kent. Challenge will now be for the party to deliver what they say they will. With greater support, comes greater scrutiny.

The great thing about Russell Brand's entourage is how painfully embarrassed they are to be seen out with him.

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira looks like a cross between Will Mellor from Two Pints Of Lager, and that guy who’s been on Hollyoaks since 1847

There are a lot of people out there today who appear to have spent £20k on tattoos, who would have been better served by spending £200 on jeans that fit them.

The White House is trying out a new "influencer only" press briefing. I watched the first three and strongly hope, for the sake of the dignity of everyone involved, that there is not a fourth (gift link). www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Not saying pollsters are struggling but I've just seen Sir John Curtice consulting chicken entrails on the BBC news channel.
