RE: Trump 'Pro Bono' work: All Democrats should be campaigning on this with the framework of: 1. This should have been paid as taxes, 2. These firms have given this sum up easily, why are they not paying more in taxes, and 3. Why have they fought taxes so much, but they quickly surrendered on this?

Any Democratic candidates should be campaigning on this with the framework that it 1. This should have been collected as taxes, 2. These firms have given this sum up easily, why are they not paying more in taxes, and 3. Why have they fought taxes so much, but they quickly surrender on this?

Yes they are, especially when they go after concurrent receipt (service members receiving both disability and pension). Echos of the 1930's are everywhere.

Thank her for her service. Our daughter served as well about 10 years ago. I can't imagine the uncertainty you guys are living through! Good luck with everything - and hoping for the best!

Wait until they strand some young adults in foreign counties similar to how they handled USAID employees....parents will lose their minds....not that it will do much good with this administration.

How are they getting information off the phone? Voluntary, forcibly, or are they tracking public information prior to their arrival? This is the second or third time I've seen it reported it came from a person's phone.

Thank you Senator - I'm assuming that also means you are voting no on Cloture, and not playing word games! Please help convince Senators Durbin and Schumer to vote NO on cloture as well.

Thanks for visiting! It's a great city....we have our problems like anywhere else, but good people, doing their best.

Of course if he sides with the administration, it is a 'distinction without a difference'. If he wanted to rein Trump in, this would be an easy start and Roberts doesn't even see that he's undermining judicial authority by overriding the lower courts who were in agreement.

Lol....saw this one coming....it's amazing the lengths Republicans will go to to avoid raising taxes on billionaires. I guess we all need to do our patriotic duty to keep them in the lifestyle they have grown accustomed to. God forbid they do something for their fellow citizens that served.

Another example of what is wrong with our press - everyone keeps repeating this $600M number, but no where is it reported on what it is being spent on.... ridiculous. If the number is true, give the info, if not, quit reporting it.

A lot of truth right there....probably also eliminates some 'reply all' actions on their emails...lol

Agreed. Also, people forget, Pelosi has spent a career building a coalition and becoming its leader. She has a lot of 'chits and markers' in the game, and owes 'loyalty' to those who gave it to her. AOC is just beginning to build her coalition -it takes time. Power cannot be given, it must be taken.

Done. I'd also recommend a reasoned pitch to your representative. List the reasons why you want her to lead the committee. She has a bigger and better media presence, she has an appeal to younger voters and the ability to distill an issue to it's relevance to voters. She is the better candidate.

Democrats are not prepared and are not demonstrating the strategic competence to fight what is coming. Unfortunately, it will probably take something catastrophic, to remobilize competent opposition. end/x

I agree that social security is probably safe in the near term, but many other programs will likely be cut, because their constituency is not large enough to mobilize popular opposition. 5/x

Veteran’s benefits will be an easy item to cut because there will not be enough popular support to maintain it. 4/x

Now those costs are increasing and impacting other areas of the budget. The modern military has been small, less than 1% of our population serves – those that served and voted for Trump, are in for a very big surprise. 3/x

Coolidge and Hoover both reneged on promised payments to veterans due to their cost and burden on the federal government. I understand that today’s benefits are expensive, but that was brought up by many democrats during the wars in the middle east and ignored by the republicans and citizens. 2/x

History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes ....as a veteran, it feels like we are going to be living in a period that rhymes with the 'Bonus army' of the late 1920's early 1930's. 1/x

Since it is DoD, it gives new meaning to 'Helicopter parent'.

Agreed! The only problem is that most of them voted for Trump.... I'd love to see this business model change too, but I'm not optimistic with the incoming administration.

30 years of improving the reputation and professionalism of the ARNG will be damaged by a couple of shady characters....and the truth is neither of them were successful officers..... everything you read about them is that they're running from their own military careers.

I've long thought that if it's not both candidates speaking, neither should be allowed. The Guard has had a reputation of being too political for too long, and this doesn't help. I was at 2004 NGAUS and it was cringey with the swiftboating of Kerry going on in the background.
