Is anyone else still thinking about the Superbowl half time show?

I’ve been working on the Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443) and surrounding region for a while. The jellyfish is a supernova remnant - shrapnel from a star that exploded ~30,000 years ago 9 hours, #Seestar S50 🔭 🧪 Multiple separate pointings Siril 1.3.6-dev, GraXpert, Starnet, GIMP

This is fascinating. Give it a read!

Trying to wrap your mind around what's happened this week (it's Wednesday)? Same... So for our clarity (and possibly yours) we're resharing some WIRED scoops in this refresher thread, starting with business leaders paying millions of dollars to dine with President Donald Trump.

Pete Hegseth just reportedly ordered the US military’s Cyber Command to “stand down” from all planning against Russia. Analysts have been ordered not to follow or report on Russian threats. One inside source said, “Putin is on the inside now.”

Carina Nebula Jets (NIRCam Narrowband Filters). NASA, ESA, CSA, and STScI, J. DePasquale (STScI)

Great advice on helping someone who is grieving.

Wherever possible please buy your books directly from authors and/or publishers. Even ebooks (then Amazon can't delete them either). We make a better cut and you get the same thing or better, plus Bezos and ilk don't get richer. Win win win.

⚪️ Evangelicals mad because Kendrick showed how easy it is to call out predators on stage but they won’t do it.

Oh nothing, the kid who Elon allowed to access our sensitive information was a eugenicist who "was racist before it was cool."

Hey #Booksky if you’re in the US and looking to step away from the zon for physical books can I highly recommend Thrift Books? They donate and partner with non-profits to support school libraries in underserved areas, and prison libraries. Plus, the book prices are *very good* www.thriftbooks.com

Rings of Relativity. GAL-CLUS-022058s is the largest and one of the most complete Einstein rings ever discovered in our Universe. The light from the background galaxy has been distorted into the curve we see by the gravity of the galaxy cluster sitting in front of it. (Hubble) 🔭 🧪

N44. Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, N44 nebula is approximately 1,000 light-years wide and 160,000-170,000 light-years distant. It is an emission nebula with superbubble structure. Hubble data processing: @thocarp.bsky.social www.flickr.com/photos/19746... 🔭 🧪

What would Republicans be saying if the Democratic president appointed a reality TV host as Secretary of Transportation at the same time that we experienced the first commercial airline craft in nearly 2 decades?

NGL, mutha fuckas. 🗡️

Big air hi-five across the internet to anyone else who knew they were dead serious about project 2025. No one writes that many pages without meaning it.

It’s fun trying to find that line between “I need to remain vigilant of the horrors afoot” and also “oh no my heart is racing and my jaw is making weird creaky sounds and I can taste pennies.”

Ok #booksky, let’s talk. 👎🏼Goodreads, owned by Amazon, fuels its monopoly on books. 👍🏼StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform, offers an ethical, ad-free alternative with mood-based recommendations, user control over data, and a focus on inclusivity. Support diversity over corporate power!

I used to love reading dystopian fiction in high school. Reaaaaally not enjoying living through dystopian reality as an adult.

It’s Sunday, so let’s share the good word: If churches want to play politics, they can pay taxes like the rest of us. God doesn’t need a tax break, but millionaire pastors sure seem to love one.
