Whoaaaa ... this solar storm is so strong, they are seeing it up in Coonabarabran (latitude: 31 degrees south!). That's 200 km NW of Sydney! Coonabarabran sits on the edge of one of the only dark sky parks in the southern hemisphere, out in the Warrumbungles. We have big telescopes near there!

Did everyone see that magnificent lava fountain from Kilauea volcano? At times it got as high as ~300m. Put another way, that's about as tall as Centrepoint Tower in Sydney or the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Skyscraper Lava!
