They're American Pit Bulls (an aggressive breed of dog) imported from the US to the GB, banned here after unprovoked attacks on innocent people. They were the result of bad breeding and irresponsible owners. Those owners were prosecuted and the dogs put down. Just a thought.

Yes, that nearly always happen to me somewhere in the middle. I've found leaping forward leaving an XXX to be able to find the gap and writing something further along the plot line.

Better still, climbb inside the main character's head. That way you get their thoughts as well as what they see, and share all other senses as well. Fully emersive.

I'm in re-write mode as well and hoping it is the final one before the book goes to my editor, then just final revisions and publication. If it all works out, I'm on schedule for publication late September. 🤞

This kind of behaviour should be stopped at the earliest opportunity. The lesson from the past is simple, let invaders get away with their first encroachment and the pain of stopping them further down the line is more than double an initial slap down would have caused.
