This was not just one article or one reporter; the NYT made a habit of using headlines to emphasize concerns about weakness rather than the objective evidence of economic strength. Here’s another example from August.

This was from Oct. 3rd 2024. NY Times reporting made a choice to emphasize temporary turbulence rather than the strong economy.

“Failed launch” is a really strange way to summarize what happened. Makes it sound like just an aborted takeoff. In fact, the ship was completely destroyed and flaming pieces of the wreckage fell from the sky.

Strange choice for the headline to say that the ship ‘spiraled out of control’ without mentioning that it completely disintegrated and fell to the sea in tiny flaming pieces.

You’re clearly right, but it won’t matter to the results-oriented “originalists” - they will use sources that are less clear and less relevant and they will use big words while insisting that their sources demonstrate the true original meaning.

Even more disheartening: even if Trump blatantly took money in exchange for official acts, in a way that met all SCOTUS tests for bribery, there is no way to hold him accountable.
The Senate clearly would not act against him, and SCOTUS already gave him immunity from subsequent prosecution.

And the image says the count is by millions, which is clearly wrong. If you click through to the BLS source (or if you think logically for a moment) it should be thousands instead.

Our household quit using Amazon a few years ago when we learned about their terrible safety record and disregard for workers generally. Now we are supporting more small/local businesses and don’t miss Amazon one bit.
