Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

We were more "tell someone how special they are every day" types who didn't do much for Valentine's, but a big splashy celebration makes sense too. Love should be celebrated. It's the most valuable commodity - treasure yours in whatever form you have it. Miss her on the celebration days too.

I don't write many actual articles any more, but had this one bouncing around in my brain for a bit and had to get it out. Consider it my art appreciation post for Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. www.denverstiffs.com/the-modern-a...

The image of the night.

Gonna need to write that Jokic art piece this week. Still flabbergasted every single game watching him work. I wish Denver had found a way to strengthen the roster before the deadline, but even with a smaller-than-I'd-like margin for error, the Nuggets have Jokic and therefore a real shot at a ring.

sorry i've been so testy lately. it's just because of every single thing in the entire world

HEADLINE: CDC posts, then deletes, data on bird flu spread between cats and people. The data which appeared fleetingly online on Wednesday, confirmed transmission in two households. It is evident the CDC is being muzzled SO let’s talk about what YOU can do to PROTECT yourself AND your pets. 🧪🧵 ⬇️

I'm a very private person, and there's a lot going on. Genocide abroad, COVID at home. My LGBTQ+ community is under attack, and I am the child of an immigrant so my sympathies are there too. If I talk about sports it's because I can only scream about everything else. Have to find things to love too.

LGBTQIA minors make up 40% of the endangered minor runaway population. They are 120% more likely to be unhoused. They are also uniquely at risk for exploitation and trafficking. This is breathtakingly evil.

As Trump takes office & pledges mass deportations, here is a shareable film series written *by immigrants for immigrants* on how to safely defend against ICE. The first of four: 🚨If ICE is outside your door, don’t panic. Don’t open the door. Ask to see a warrant. ICE can’t enter w/o one. Part 1:

Be careful out there, take care of each other, and remember when asked that it's hard to be sure of anything and memory gets fuzzy.

The Nuggets play such beautiful basketball when they're like this. Ball is poppin, guys are runnin, everyone is fully engaged in the game and staying aware of the possibilities on the court. Hope they play the whole game this way.

I miss my partner. It's been more than 2 years since she died and there are still moments every day that punch me in the heart and make it skip a beat. Today was no exception, just punched a little harder maybe. Apparently that will never, ever stop - I just have to handle the two sides of this.

Something I keep in mind regularly is that we don't all need to be fighting the same battles. There are too many fronts for that anyway. Engage those fights most meaningful to you and leave the others to other people.

Really does feel like all these offensive explosions the past week are just Denver's core guys proving that they definitely know how to score and people should stop talking about adding a scorer. Need to find a couple of defenders, Booth.

I make this face at work on Mondays too.

Well this was an incredibly disappointing day of Denver sports.

LaVine has a worse injury history than MPJ and costs more. It doesn't give Denver flexibility or depth, but does provide them with the on-ball help they'd need if Jamal never gets back to being Bubble Jamal. If they do decide to move MPJ, Cam Johnson (also named) probably makes more sense to me.

It's good to win what was probably Nikola Jokic's worst game of the season. He just didn't have it tonight in any aspect, don't let the triple double fool you. But the few times a year he gets to be his version of mortal it's great to pull out the victory.

That was a great ending to an absolutely terribly played game. The Nuggets slipped and slid their way down an endless flight of stairs for 3 quarters, but they secured the win at the very end. Good for the standings, bad for my nerves.

Back-to-back awful quarters don't thrill me. Nuggets gave up 82 points in those frames, completely lost their composure in a game the refs are admittedly terrible in, but the Nuggets allowed to break their focus while the Kings didn't. Denver's got a lot of work to do if they don't want a bad loss.

Nuggets played too fast in that quarter - their mistakes let the Kings run on them at will and get back in the game. Got to settle down and execute on offense to make the Kings take the ball out of the bucket more and give Denver time to set up a real defense.

The post-Jokmas Nuggets have absolutely incredible urgency and energy through this first quarter. Just melting the Kings.

Nikola Jokic played very similar (and amazing) games back-to-back, but the guys around him played very differently tonight & played the whole 48. The most disappointing loss of the season one night turned into a blowout the next. Nuggets need to keep this mental picture of how to play around Nikola.

Much better energy from Denver early. They're following their mistakes to scramble for rebounds, moving without the ball, and looking for one another on both ends. And of course Joker is Joker. Bench players have to keep it up.

I don't necessarily expect good basketball from the Nuggets today in their third game in 4 days, but we had better see some impassioned basketball. Go out there and PLAY HARD please, and trust that the best player in the world will clean it up.

My god. It’s happening. A post-Bashar Syria. The transition starts now. Make no mistake: it will be incredibly rocky. But today, take a beat to hear the soft, human joy of many Syrians as they cry, embrace, learn if wrongly jailed loved ones survived & vow “now we can go home.” 🧵

No one on the Nuggets read this skeet obviously, because WOW was that some poorly executed nonsense from everyone not named Nikola Jokic. Disrespectful effort that even the goat couldn't overcome, no resistance provided to Washington at all.

Time for Denver to practice doing the little things better. With multiple starters out, they're going to need way more attention to detail - unless they're going to just make Nikola carry them like always. Against Washington, they should be able to do their jobs without being overwhelmed.

people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

Nuggets are definitely competing harder in the second quarter. MPJ specifically has been doing a lot of great work, using his length on defense and hustling, a steal, good transition passing... Little bit of everything from Mike and AG to get Denver back into this, but now they need to keep it up.

I really don't understand how the Nuggets can be this bad at defending the three-point line, against a team they know is going to shoot threes. They refuse to hustle on defense, refuse to grab the rebounds you need... I don't need perfection, but I would definitely like more effort.

"When you're 1% of the population, it's very hard to see how the democratic process will protect you" was quite a statement at the court after the TN attorney argued that the equal protection should be declined in favor of “the democratic process.”

The Nuggets went back and forth all night with the Warriors, but Denver gets the last run of the game and the victory! @ZachMikash recaps the rollercoaster W. #MikeHighBasketball www.denverstiffs.com/recap-denver...

Vibes for this Nuggets game went from atrocious to immaculate down the stretch as the whole team came together to reel it back in and scrap out that victory. Jokic led the way, but everybody followed late and contributed in the finish. Huge win.

Bluesky is scratching that itch to be able to follow good and reliable information of fast moving international developments that twitter used to. No conspiracy theories or trolls. Quick, efficient, reliable information from reputable journalists. I missed this so much.

I’ve seen enough. This Nuggets group probably isn’t competing at the highest level without a serious change. milehighsports.com/denver-nugge...

Update: the bench brought the correct mentality. Love that the bench again closed the gap that the starters had and now Jokic comes back in with the score better than when he left. Has happened a couple times the past few games.

Not really enjoying how soft all of the non-Nikola Nuggets are whenever they face any kind of physicality early. Hopefully they get adapted quickly because Jokic has to get some rest and he's been their only offense.

Honestly I feel like Aaron Gordon not starting is Malone forcing himself to actually follow a minutes restriction. Because most times when a guy is on a 20 minute restriction or whatever Malone will play him 35, so he's taking his own complete inability to follow medical instructions out of the way.

Whether or not AG is back today, it's great news that he's right on the cusp. x.com/katywinge/st...
