Seeing many women I respect being cut out of media and I can’t handle seeing another white guy who still has a job talk about objectivity

I can't think of a better way of pissing off King Trump than for #Canada to go ahead and build the Alto high-speed rail line. A multi-billion high-tech megaproject, that would deliver 186 mph trains, using Canadian steel + aluminum. Might even kick off a 21st-century space race... 🧵

It's been under the guise of the buy local "100 km radius" idea for environmental reasons, but I've been doing this for a couple decades. It's nice to see that others are finally starting to come around.

For three years, the people of Ukraine have fought with extraordinary courage in the face of Russia’s brutal and unjustified invasion. They alone have the right to determine what is best for their long-term security. Canada stands with Ukraine. Slava Ukraini!

You what would be cool during the Liberal leadership debates? They all reach a consensus during the debate that one of them is indeed the best candidate.

BlueSky generated 33% more subscriptions than Threads for the Globe in January.

Feb 22nd 2025 - What a gorgeous early afternoon before the clouds moved in in Labrador West. Big blue skies and little wind. A great day to do 18km #nlwx #ShareYourWeather #TheBigLand #LabradorLife #nature #canon #Labrador #winter #snow #thenorth #wethenorth #labradorwest #ywk #labradorstrong

I suppose I need to add that the temperature in "nearby" Millertown this morning was -9 C. I experienced the Badger cold pool one morn driving out to the ferry, it can catch you by surprise as your car windows start quickly fogging up as you take the plunge. #nlwx #nltraffic

Deadly combination: Purity syrup with a Soda Stream.

I've said there's no use case for ChatGPT but I was wrong.

I love all animals but hamsters are one of the most neglected and I have all of the recourses to take a rescue every couple of years. More info about the rescue can be found here www.brighthorizonhamster.co.uk

In these dark days of winter with fresh fruit a distant memory, how to make all Canadian's jealous of California in just one image.

@mark-carney.bsky.social @ianhanomansing.bsky.social When will Canada pony up $2B to create public positions for out of work scientists and researchers, funding their move across the border, solving our under-performing STEM sector and becoming a scientific superpower nearly overnight?

Another dataset I like is from the National Atmospheric Deposition Program, which has maps of the US that show we fixed the acid rain problem by implementing stricter emission controls on power plants. nadp.slh.wisc.edu/maps-data/nt...

Yes. Yes everyone does have issues with the way this topic is framed. How about "Has your love of Canada strengthened and what does your country mean to you given Trump's 51st state threats"?

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." -Malcolm X #BlackHistoryMonth

Reagan made it ok for rich people to do what they like without consequence. Trump made it ok for everyone else to.

So much of what Trump is doing right now is has many shades of what Harper did during his mandates, from alienating our allies, defunding organizations against his morals, getting rid of hundreds of federal scientists and civil servants while muzzling the rest, and derailing Environment Canada.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center say results of a Phase I trial of an mRNA vaccine aimed at preventing pancreatic cancer show promise. The vaccine PREVENTED the cancer from coming back in patients who had already received treatment for MORE THAN three years. 🧪🧵⬇️

History teaches us that when governments begin persecuting a vulnerable minority group while simultaneously making it harder for members of that group to escape persecution by fleeing abroad... it doesn't end well for anyone. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politic...

The point of these is not to enforce them. The point of this is to terrify trans people and ban them from public life. "What would I do if I lived in Nazi Germany" used to be a thought experiment. Now you will find out if you were telling the truth. Unrelated, you can buy chisels online.

They learned nothing from the Salt Typhoon American telecom hacks.

Just a reminder that we need to add alt text for images of text for our blind and low vision friends. In Android with the image in view, simply swipe up from the bottom to enter the card view, hold down on the text in the image, select and copy as usual. Then paste into the alt text field. #nlwx

Buy Canadian seeds! Brandon, Manitoba has the wonderful McKenzie seeds which sells non GMO and organic, but there are many Canadian seed companies to choose from! See this link for a big list.🌱 seeds.ca/seedmap/

Searching for Red Hat on social media now returns nothing but pain.

So if they invade in 5 years, we may have a chance with their gutted military?

GD shrinkflation is everywhere.

To the Northern Canadians who think they will have leverage in the discussions about what happens to their resources, take a look at the cod collapse and the wonderful way the marine resources have been handled by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. You have a huge fight ahead of you.

THIS IS HUGE! For the FIRST time in history, scientists at Sanaria and Seattle Children's Research Institute's Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR) have developed a GROUNDBREAKING malaria vaccine (PfSPZ-LARC2) designed to provide >90% protection with just ONE dose. 🧪🧵⬇️

Are all 50+ products made in the single Purity factory building on Blackmarsh road? It looks pretty small for all the production lines. #purityfactories #newfoundland

The last second.

Remote sensing hive minds, I need your help with wind products: We used to be able to get QuikScat swath data (instead of the gridded product) to determine discrete wind speed measurements from a general region. Is there another scatterometer product available now that offers swath data files? 🛰️🌊🧪

All ferries are cancelled in that time span? As much as I love the ferry between Halifax and Dartmouth, this is a nearly impossible thing to work around in any timely manner if I don't have a car, given the size of Bedford Basin.

Over my mostly private-sector career, I’ve heard the suggestion that government is incompetent and the private sector is efficient and effective. Many times I’ve seen the opposite, with the private sector often shockingly incompetent but largely un-scrutinized like the public sector is. Until now.

hello cis friends this is what people mean by trans genocide if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist
