I share about walking, biking, great cities, & progressive politics. I work for @sngreenways.bsky.social (Seattle's walking, biking, and streets for people nonprofit), but these are my personal opinions. GordonOfSeattle on various platforms.

Received this image of the driver dragging the bike for multiple blocks under the SUV. After this was taken he apparently got out and removed it and then kept driving.

I’ve heard the data backs that up. Previous sit-down scooters didn’t seem to do as well, but these seem to have cracked the code

Yes, quick thinking from the kid luckily it sounds like. Just happened to have a volunteer (Terry) at the intersection when it happened so got a good account of what happened.

You may remember: this is the same intersection, immediately adjacent to the Mt Baker kids swim beach, where a car careened off the road and exploded into the beach. SDOT proposed adding stop signs here to help calm traffic, but the Mayor’s office killed the idea because car advocates complained.

Was just roused from a nap where I was dreaming about signing Liam Clancy’s “John Cook” in a pub with some mates, and immediately switched to singing her Raffi’s “Shake My Sillies Out.” That’s what we dads call range

yes, I noticed some bad spots too. If you document them and send it to the project team and hopefully they can fix before the project wraps up.

It has a 90% success rate moving people inside. “The smooth pathway from street to shelter is partly why, in King County, the state’s Encampment Resolution Program has closed 18 encampments, moving about 90% of people from them inside — more than 420 people.” www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Four days ago SDOT posted similar content about this study on X where they have “273,000 followers.” It got two likes. Time for government agencies to migrate over here, and stop feeding a right wing propaganda machine. Maybe @alexis4seattle.bsky.social can help push them to migrate?

Just market businesses apparently. The email, that was only sent to market businesses, includes a survey, that is only open to businesses.

That said, I’m worried about the latest move by Pike Place to push back the start time of pedestrianization to 10am 😕. This doesn’t seem to have been communicated publicly, so the damage so far has been limited. But Pike Place mornings could easily become more like the Occidental parking lot fail
