Another question, other than the obvious wage slavery of it all, is... why? Why do we need them mining and refining materials? They'll say it's so they can make the "AI revolution" go faster, but to what end? Why is any of this happening? None of this needs to or should happen.

This is somehow more obsequious than "Mr. Burns, your campaign seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?"

I think, unfortunately, this is likely to be a developing story over the next four years.

yes pls

You are completely fucked up as a newspaper if you think RFK Jr deserves praise for anything he has done so far in his new role- which is really nothing except pushing anti-medicine and anti-vaccine propaganda.

This is driving me crazy too. Not long ago 10% universal tariffs were considered the worst-case scenario, something even Trump wasn’t crazy enough to impose. Now have those PLUS 125% tariffs on China. Together, these raise raise inflation by about as much as original “Liberation Day” tariffs did!

“What concerns me is that Tesla is not known for taking a slow and methodical approach, they move fast and break things and people are at risk because of that. There have been preventable deaths, so it’s an immediate concern for us.”

how am I supposed to work now that this has been posted youtu.be/TZmh_PNMImE?...

Suing far right influencers who spread conspiracy theories about private figures to audiences full of unhinged and violent trolls is good, and more people put through these horrible ringers should do it.

For some reason, the most profitable industry imaginable needs just under 1000 dollars in subsidies from every single Canadian

simply amazing. I love to see the Efficient Markets Hypothesis being proved in real time

I would rather watch my own autopsy

Note the fallacy here: "Both Carney and Poilievre have stressed the need to cap immigration levels to better align numbers with the availability of housing" Cutting immigration reduces housing growth, as they're major investors in, and builders of, housing www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

this is genuinely wild, they really put the protest coverage in fine print font newrepublic.com/article/1936...

This is such a disaster. Small publishers still utterly rely on Google for traffic and discovery, and Overview by all counts seems to be decimating both.

I scanned dozens of newspapers from around the U.S. & world. On average, international newspapers cover the widespread protests against Trump/Musk and for democracy much more prominently on their covers than those in the U.S. This isn’t due to deadlines, protests were daytime in the U.S. #handsoff

“There is no God but God, Muhammad is his messenger,” the paramedic is heard saying. He asks God for forgiveness and says he knows he is going to die. “Forgive me, mother. This is the path I chose — to help people,” he said. “Allahu akbar,” God is great, he says. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/04/w...

absolutely insanity on Fox Business. this would be a bit much even in Pyongyang.

It's so upsetting and grim to see how much important, real-world scientific and health data has been wantonly and needlessly destroyed.

NEW: Conservative candidate used a secret Signal group chat with Freedom Convoy leaders, right-wing media and far-right influencers Andrew Lawton was a member of the “clandestine” group chat used to coordinate convoy messaging on social media

So the reason Norfolk Island copped a dramatically higher tariff than the rest of Australia is two shipments of Timbaland boots from the Bahamas and some aquarium supplies from the UK that had their point of origin mislabeled or misrecorded. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

For the second time in the last 24 hours, Trump suggests that he thinks he will be putting tariffs directly on fentanyl smuggled into the United States illegally.

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

Elon Musk spending tens of millions of dollars on the Wisconsin election, losing, and then claiming his real goal was to influence the state constitutional amendment on ID voter requirements when IDs were already required to vote might just be the funniest bit of cope ive seen in a while
