That election is nearly 4 years away. I support AOC in whatever she wants to do; any decisions are a long way off. Chuck thinks this opposition is by a small minority of progressives. That has to change quickly. There's some hope that denying unanimous consent can slow this process down.

Chuck has 4 more years, you are very optimistic about democratic voters

Certainly can't trust Hochul to do the right thing, best if this is her last term as well.

Most replies are missing the disingenuous catch here: He will vote 'yes' on cloture, which is the only leverage dems have, and then 'no' on the bill when his vote no longer matters. There is no courage being shown here without a 'no' vote on cloture.

Why would Canada be added as one state? Each province would add itself as a state with 2 Senators each. Quebec will never join the U.S., they aren't really happy in Canada. Who knows about the territories? So, 20+ Canadian Senators and 45+ Canadian Representatives. Still, never going to happen.

BOTH your Senators are feckless, Gillibrand maybe more so. Very disappointing: time to get AOC into the Senate and move Chuck out too. What are you doing for 6 years?

the American consumer is interested in absorbing zero pain. the Canadian consumer has already smeared themselves with the fat of a freshly killed bear and made an offering of blood for luck in the coming battle

There was a story yesterday about a British Columbia mom who took her infant to the U.S. to get an RSV shot not available at home. I don't know why not available, but the baby looked very young. Mom is now claiming that the vaccine saved her baby's life. There must be more to this whole story.

Sadly, it is unlikely that Canada will have any flu shots if they're not produced in the U.S. Same with halting the development of bird-flu vaccines; if none are developed by Moderna in the U.S., we will have none available to us in Canada. Sigh!

4 Dems were no show earlier, I guess they don't much care about their constituents and this should provide enough margin for some Repub defections.

Anyone can access books through a library or even e-books on the internet. And unlike AI LLMs, books are not riddled with factual mistakes. The "education" someone might get from AI is a miseducation. AI is not for people who want an education. It's for people who want to avoid one.
