But they get paid to make the tough decisions and oppose the lawless actions of the Trump autocratic government. They can't hide behind judges. They must lead and make clear that the party opposes autocratic governance.

At first, they always come for people they can paint as the least desireable. But when the freedom of one person is taken away without due process, anyone's freedom can be taken.
Standing up for what's right is hard. Ds will fear opposing because Trump will paint them as pro-violent gang.

I make no excuse for Biden. But this was also a leadership moment for Harris, that she apparently failed. She was running to be president. She needed to say to Biden, "Thank you, but I've got to do this my way." This would not have been easy, but important.

Because Ds govern in the passive voice. Even if Ds took the blame. Wear it with honor. Oppose the full year CR for good reasons, then explain those. If you are right people will support you. You know, govern & politic. It's not about them; it's about the country that Trump is destroying.

Seems like you should get a column at the post now, because the best defense of personal liberties is the systematic destruction of the institutional inequality that pervades our society and business. You can't have personal liberty when inequality pervades. You have the strongest voice on that.

Translation:
Trump realized hiking the price of avocados the week before the super bowl was a colossally stupid idea.

Again, Trump is awful, but this is probably not beyond the authority of the president pending final appropriations for fiscal year 2025.

Here's CDBG in Senate 4796,
"(1) $3,300,000,000 shall be available for carrying out the community development block grant program..."
That would be the law if the Congress passes the Senate bill. $3.3 billion. Specific grantees are not provided by law. Even more complex under a CR. No final approps.

Yes, but most appropriations are large top-line numbers, especially for grant programs. Specific distributions might be in report language, which is NOT law. Not agreeing with what Trump is doing, but agencies always review and award and sometimes delay grants and loans.

A nail in the coffin for coal IN THE EU. Goodness knows what happens in the US. Is coal a zombie fuel here?
