Grand opening. Grand closing. wtop.com/business-fin...

Just listened this morning. As someone who didn't make it to AF for the opener and (like everyone) had to rely on scant accounts of preseason, a good breakdown of where the team is at after the first match.

Claudia left DCU last summer to go out on her own then landed a national TV gig. She's missed.

Let's talk D.C. United tactics! What new wrinkles did Troy Lesesne trot out against TFC on Saturday and did any of it work? @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social breaks it all down. Plus, I give brief thoughts on every player DCU used in their 2-2 draw. Listen+Subscribe www.buzzsprout.com/8793/episode...

Any reason why Apple shifted Kaylyn from analyst to host? It's weird having her (101 caps) ask Dax and Sacha (65 caps combined) to break down games?

DC historically acts as if the season sneaks up on their marketing dept. Dormant all winter then flood the area with 100 different messages two weeks before kickoff. No clear vision. No branding.

This was my takeaway as well. It's like a track meet whenever DC lose possession.

That was... unfulfilling.

1st half thoughts: -Kijima is a menace. -Pirani is lightweight. -All defenders have had shaky moments (Schnegg the most) -will be a surprise if DCU has the legs for 90mins of this.

PA announcer puts Jackson Hopkins in the starting lineup. No one at the club caught that before it's announced? SMH.

The new homegrown signing makes the bench for the opener. Gotta be a thrill for the kid.

Love something as much as DC loves dressing 3 keepers.

Tricky spot for DCU today. If they win (no matter the score) it'll be dismissed because TFC look worse than DC. If they lose, it'll be confirmation that DC are Wooden Spoon candidates. Job's the same as always though. Get 3pts at home.

New D.C. United season kicks off tonight and you know it's a big deal because I used periods in the team name. Listen to this episode of the podcast to get up to speed in the club before tonight's match against Toronto at Audi Field.

Goff with a nice overview here. Turner spent the fall (when not trialling elsewhere) playing with DCU's U18 team (he was clearly too good for that level). No MLSNextPro team (sigh) means he might play with the U18s again this spring if a suitable loan can't be found or can't get 1st team mins.

We discussed Turner on a recent ep of Pitch Pass. Can play anywhere in the line of three behind the striker. Right footed, explosive, creative, powerful shot. Dynamic, high motor player. Very fun to watch. Size could be a problem. Similar profile to Cavan Sullivan.

This is not a trade, this is regular old loan. Not a sporting loan. Like a go to the bank, get your credit run, sign paperwork, make monthly payments, loan. Galaxy must be re-doing their master bathroom.

We're discussing the lack of JUICE that DCU has added this offseason and what it says about the club's ambition. My thought is that Troy/Ally exited some player profiles they didn't think fit and filled with profiles that do. "Fit" being tactically, culturally, etc. No one thing. Thread🧵

Stroud. Herrera. Bartlett. Those are some returning starters over 25 who would be vice captain candidates. Says a lot about Rowles that he's assumed a leadership role on the club in less than a month.

This take feels right. Add in the Stroud injury and the uncertainty of Peglow. Solid business by Ally to snag a promising player on the cheap to evaluate for a few months. No downsides to this.
