Our client Rümeysa Öztürk has not been charged with any crime. She is being held in ICE detention in retaliation for her political beliefs. Writing an op-ed is not a deportable offense.

Paying taxes with tears in my eyes knowing what they're paying for - disappearing innocent people to a concentration camp in El Salvador. What have we become?

Legal permanent resident of the U.S., showing up to apply for citizenship, with no allegations of criminal activity, is arrested and detained by masked police. This is fascism, and that is not a word I use lightly. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/n...

Grabbed at his appointment to become a citizen. Is this who we are? 😕🇺🇸

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

bloomberg: ~90% of deported migrants to el salvador had no criminal record

Me listening to the Outsiders soundtrack on repeat since February.

Don't capitulate!

At this point, Judge Xinis should order the immediate return under threat of contempt and let the Supreme Court tell the Administration otherwise.

NO ONE should be sent to El Salvador, you baby-brained losers. My God.

El Salvador is a contractor providing the United States with a paid service. The idea that we couldn’t get anyone they’re holding back with the snap of a finger just by asking is so ludicrous on its face, it seems less like a real excuse and more like a test of how much shit the courts will eat.

There we go. Support this man.

Here's Trump saying to Bukele that "homegrown criminals are next" and talking about how El Salvador will need to build "about five more places."

Disappearing people without any due process is fascism — full stop. I’m sick to my stomach and we all should be.

They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported. We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back. That would be the end of democracy.

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process. This is not lawful.

If you abduct someone and send them involuntarily and without recourse to a country where they've never lived to be imprisoned, that isn't deportation, it's human trafficking

1) Do something autocratic 2) Wait to see how people react 3) If they don't push back hard enough, carry on 4) If they do push back hard enough, "pause" it 5) Illegally consolidate more power 6) Repeat

Pure fucking evil.

Not sure how these people sleep at night

Classic abuser move: create a crisis and then position yourself as its solution. After the abuser “solves” the crisis, he will expect gratitude and adoration.

As the author of a history of concentration camps, I would like to emphasize that this is a very bad idea, and we should definitely not do it.

BREAKING: The acting head of the IRS plans to quit over the deal ICE has made with the IRS where the IRS will share migrants’ tax information with ICE, to help find immigrants they are trying to deport, per Washington Post

This is the content I need

Justice Sotomayor, writing in today's deportation case. How many times must she write, "With fear for our democracy, I dissent," before Republicans get the point? Perhaps only when, as the poem goes, they come for them.

big shadow docket decision coming: can the us government exile you to a torture prison overseas vs no it can't

my offer to america: we bring woke back

when people say "this isn't what I voted for" they should be forced to list what they DID vote for

what a visual

It’s simple: it’s anti-Black racism.

Good news. The American empire is falling. Bad news. I’m an American

Sackets Harbor, NY...

They said we'd have a record-beating economy, and they were right - largest two days of wealth destruction in nominal dollar terms *ever*:

America is embarrassing right now. We destroyed ourselves at the hands of the dumbest supervillain. The greatest self own in modern history.

Someone who does a good Putin impersonation, call up the White House and tell him to stop with all the tariffs

The question of if a country could fuck itself harder than the UK did with Brexit has today been answered.

Trump just imposed, by executive order, the single largest tax increase on consumers in American history.

Today, at the Justice Department's urging, a judge dismissed a serious corruption case against the Mayor of New York. Not because there was any lack of evidence. Not because of any misconduct by the prosecutors…

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

ELIE MYSTAL: “This is what fascism looks like. I don’t know what y’all expected it to look like… People are being abducted and disappeared from our streets. These people haven’t even been charged in court.” 🇺🇸

friday

Wow. I can't string together a coherent sentence if I skip my morning tea. ✨️👏👏👏

"Everything looks like a conspiracy when you don't know how anything works."

Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
