My favorite joke is about sisyphus. I tell that joke over, and over, and over, and...

The caption writes itself.

Good ref. for folks on the front lines. Stay safe folks!

Removing pepperball residue from clothing and other items. This is based on my (unfortunately extensive) personal experience and experimentiation. Pepperballs contain powdered PAVA, an oily, synthetic capsaicin analog. The only reliable way to remove it is with a good surfactant soap and water. 1/

Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap. The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm. Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.

[Congressman with an Israeli flag pin] it’s bad optics to fly the flag of another country

Easiest way to declare a state of emergency is to create the emergency.

This warms my heart

People all enraged about foreign flags at a march are strangely silent on St. Patrick's or Columbus day.

Every lib poster who reports Gazan accounts as spam spends 6hrs a day cutting and pasting transphobic memes from Facebook to skeet raw, untouched. The entire internet runs on spam but when it might save lives? Brown lives?? That’s a TOS violation

Again, it matters less that most of the last of the last half billion years of earth's history were warmer than today, sometimes significantly, than the fact that the majority of the plants and animals we eat evolved to live in this colder environment at the end.../1 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/....

BTW - how were so many people surprised by the actions of Universities with respect to the Gaza protests? These are the literal gatekeepers to power and the hope for a middle class/professional future. Of course they're quisling bootlicks with a clear ruling class allegiance, what did you expect?

So, I take it that thunderstorms don't happen much in LA, no?

I think it's easier to understand the current media environment once you understand that a whole bunch of ambitious people are looking at our descent into authoritarian oligarchy and thinking it's a great opportunity to audition as a courtier.

I do not want Gazans to be burned alive. I do not want Jewish people to be set on fire. I do not want these things for any human being. This is not a difficult position to hold or believe.

We don't deserve her

Justice and due-process being the latest element of society to fall victim to the enclosure of the commons.

She persists. 24 years old.

The problem of development is that the so-called developed world is itself a hellhole of alienation and social dysfunction. Yes yes, basic needs have to be met (food/shelter/edu/etc.), but automatically assuming the Western model of development is best, or even applicable, is bereft of imagination.

The true reason for the headlong rush into AI, robotics, and generally automating every action to a fare-thee-well is that once you've removed humans from all levels of decision making, no one can be held accountable for the devastating consequences in our uncomfortablly near future.

I'll do you one better - you really don't need electricity to make coffee.
