As Passover begins, I am reposting my open letter to Elon Musk. I wrote it in response to his attacks on me and his suggestion that I suffer from “generational trauma.” It has been the most viral piece I have ever written and I continue to be moved by the positive feedback. Thanks and Happy Pesach!

Jeffrey Goldberg and Pete Hegseth. One takes DOD protocols seriously: Goldberg: —Did not disclose sensitive information; and —Left the chat when clear he was on chain (errantly) w/classified plans We’ve asked Pee Wee amateurs to play in big leagues. Expect (a lot) more unforced errors.

so telling that Hesgeth’s reflexive reaction was to trash Goldberg as “deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who’s made a profession of peddling hoaxes. This is a guy that peddles in garbage. This is what he does.” That’s what happens when you get a Fox News guy at Sec DoD

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado. 11,000 people showed up. Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

I’m the dairy farmer running in the special election to replace Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st Congressional District. Can you repost this, give me a follow, and help spread the word?

I founded Democracy Docket in 2020 to be fearlessly independent and unapologetically pro-democracy. Its work is more important today than ever before and so is your support. Consider becoming a member today. www.democracydocket.com/member-me/

It’s unreal - the DOD deleted its page for Charles Calvin Rodgers, a Medal of Honor recipient who was wounded three times while defending against three assaults on his base in Vietnam. Now the URL includes “DEI Medal of Honor.” There’s something about Rodgers I don’t even have to tell you

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position. Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."

Ruhle: Do you consider yourselves left-wing media? Jordy Meiselas: We cast a big umbrella here, and more so than anything, I consider ourselves unapologetically pro-democracy. If you're pro-Constitution, pro-upholding norms, and pro-democracy, there's a spot for you on our roster.

If Elon Musk’s “what did you do this past week” email was such a good idea, then why did all of Trump’s cabinet members tell their employees not to respond?

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

When even the New York Post has to publish this, you know you fucked up.

As of noon on Thursday, Trump was president for 31 full days. He spent all or part of 16 of those days at four Trump Organization properties. from @pbump.com: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

AOC speaking to a thousand NYC federal workers and allies about the urgency of resisting Musk 🔥🔥🔥

Yup. The GOP was bad long before 2016. It was bad in 2009 when I started blogging about it. It was bad in 2006 when Tom Mann and @normornstein.bsky.social wrote The Broken Branch. It was bad at least from the 1990s on, when it was the party of Newt and Rush. And it just got worse, worse, and worse.

Could someone place an order for 100 more Jasmine Crocketts for overnight delivery to the Democratic Party thx in advance

Trump went to the South this weekend. Not to visit flood victims in Kentucky, but to have his security drive him around a race track. He doesn’t give a shit about you or your needs. He’s on a vanity tour for the next four years.

Remember, everything is part of the same story. They need to destroy our democracy and crush dissent because letting billionaires take over the government in order to steal from us isn't popular and a functioning democracy wouldn't allow it.

Kash Patel should never be allowed inside the FBI. He is perhaps the most dangerous of all the Trump nominees. He shamelessly wants to turn the agency into Trump's loyalty police. I'm going to Senate floor at 4pm to raise the alarm for my Republican colleagues.

This is a MUST read from Aaron Parnas over on SubStack Trump has declared min self KING! open.substack.com/pub/aaronpar...

Crockett: "Down in Alabama, who's broke. Down in Louisiana, who's broke. I can go through pretty much the entire south and tell you that they're broke and rely on a lot of welfare from the government. To be perfectly honest, it is tax dollars from these big blue states...we're in the find out phase"

An unconscionable post from Donald Trump about Zelenskyy, in which he calls him a "dictator" and threatens Ukraine's existence.

Apart from the fact that this is WW2 again only we've elected Lindbergh and he just did a deal with Hitler... Trump's idea that the war can't affect us because of the ocean has been invalid since about Pearl Harbor He's absolutely unqualified to be commander-in-chief

To the extent that Musk has a super-power it is that he is an obscenely rich person who is willing to confidently say (and get many people to accept) completely untrue things that (coincidentally) always serve his own interests. He's an ignorant person's idea of what an informed person sounds like.

What can you do? Tell the stories. Share them with your family, friends, and MAGA acquaintances. open.substack.com/pub/charlies...

Put aside the nastiness of this post, & the way in he attacks Zelenskyy as a dictator but says not a word about his pal Putin, & just focus on the way it is written: would you hire this weird person to work for you? Would you trust this odd person to teach your kid in school?

Does this qualify as an emergency yet or should we check the polling in swing districts first

The very first thing he did was a Nazi salute.

For DOJ alums, it was the worst week ever, with the Thursday night massacre and its bloody aftermath. Elsewhere, Trump had mixed success, powering through 2 more dubious nominees but taking it on the chin in a series of courts. Coming Monday bright & early a stellar roundtable to break it all down.

The new cover of TIME.
