I bowl a bit and bat a bit - both not as good as they were and neither was ever that good. Signature shot - trying to hit the first ball for six, probably over cow corner...

That was even more pants than I thought it would be. I thought more fight from Buttler, Archer and Rashid would at least take us past 200....FFS, that was abysmal!

I thought we bowled well early on, but then, as you say, backed up the good start with some dross. If Root can shepherd the others we may be able to overcome despite the failings with the bat.

And the slimmest of chances just got even slimmer......Livingstone, Atkinson and Rashid are capable of bringing it home and without a series now being on the line that pressure isn't a factor, but still.....not very likely at all.....

Ah well. That optimism didn't last long.....Not impossible yet, but an England win looks by far the least likely outcome now.

I am sure there are more than that. My father for one follows his father's Scottish heritage for rugby and his mother's English heritage for cricket. As both my mother's parents were English I go with 75% of my lineage, but remain proud of the other 25% too.

And, in under nine overs....

Maybe. But I am an optimist.

And in the end a 10 wicket win after 7.1 overs of their second innings. Well played South Africa and a tremendous fight back from Pakistan making the Proteas bat again.

Half way there in three overs. Looking like South Africa won't need the extra half hour......

Which two of the three currently being played?

The Mongoose MMi3 gained popularity after Matthew Hayden used one. I found you ended up playing off the bottom of the handle too much. I still use a Mongoose COR3 (nearly normal blade length), with the splice in the handle and a bigger sweet spot.

Aha! Tilford, the picture doesn't quite capture the slope. It is a great target-rich environment for the more "agricultural" batter. A convenient car park on the straight six and if you really connect, the River Wey is in scope. Plus scattering the punters outside the Barley Mow just adds to it.

That is the trouble with forecasts. The players have to do their bit and not throw it away.....

Near enough.

Having got it fairly right at the same stage in the 2nd Test, I'm hoping that the wind blows favourably again...one can but hope. #InRootWeTrust #InBrookWeTrust #InStokesWeTrust

For #NZvENG I'll stick with my post this morning: "....tidy up the last wicket. 450 for 3 or 4 at stumps on day 2. Push on to 750 to 800 dec around the tea break on day 3. That'll leave NZ needing 400-450 to make England bat again, but more probably an innings & about 100 run victory for England
