My old job said they didnt pay us a competitive rate because they provide great “perks”. Perks were: insurance (I still paid $600/mos to cover me and kid), 401k matching (sure I guess but pretty common these days), free rec center pass to a city I can’t afford to live in. I’d rather have the $

Most of the companies I have worked for have put profit and/or reputation over people. If you set boundaries for yourself in the private sector they fire you (personal experience).

Honestly I appreciate that. All of this is about control not efficiency. I have very little respect for private sector firms. I have yet to find one that truly lives up to all of the promises they sell you in the interview.

When DOGEy came in and started saying the government need to work like the private sector I ask why? Why do any of us need to work like the private sector? It’s toxic and demeaning. The public sector sets boundaries that respects people’s time and the public’s money.

individuals who seemed to enjoy their jobs. I never ran into an issue where I needed to communicate with them on weekends or evenings. There was no reason for either of us to be working those hours. They had the work/life balance I always looked for in a job.

and I ended up hating my job and profession by the end. All that time I was killing myself trying to keep up with the demands of the private sector, the people I worked with at NPS were not working any less hard than me. They are/were dedicated knowable and passionate…

because there weren’t enough people to cover all of the projects.
Emails and work on weekends was common place. I worked holidays, birthdays, nights, weekends. I put relationships second. I put my health second. I let the job rule my life. It burnt me out…

If you billed to overhead you were questioned. Overtime was practically compulsory if you wanted to succeed and be seen as a valued employee. We worked 3-10 demanding projects at a time. Often people were working above and beyond their job title/work description…

My boss was obsessed with making sure we were picture perfect through micromanagement. I had to submit weekly accountability emails stating what I worked on that week (Elon that you?) I had to log my time, accounting for every minute to a project, not once but 2-3 times a week.

Bahahahaha love it when transphobes show they can respect pronouns and gender fluidity accidentally.

He’s termed out. I think the new political views are him testing the water as moderate middle of the road politician. I’ve heard speculation that he’s eyeing a senate run, WH bid or a cabinet position. He definitely seems to be angling for something.

I’m just one guy doing what I can, they’ve got teams and resources and connections and it’s time they start treating this like a fight for survival because that’s what it is

Start assembling a general strike with the public, be very public about potentially shutting down what’s left of the federal government by refusing to pass the debt ceiling, publicly call their Republican colleagues craven shitweasels, the list goes on and on and on and on and on and

Hold press conferences with federal employees who have been fired speaking, go on national shows and give their time to federal employees who have been fired so they can speak, lead daily protests outside the White House and associated buildings, stop pretending you can collaborate with fascists

Polis is estimated to be worth 400 million. He’s one of them, he always has been. It’s been beneficial to his career to pretend to be progressive. Now it’s beneficial to his career to be Trumps friend. We don’t need people like that in politics.

I bet we never see the resolute desk again. It’s been smuggled down to Maralago just like those classified documents Trump liked to share with random foreign national guests

He’s the OLDEST PRESIDENT IN OFFICE EVER. He’s dusty. Ancient. Geriatric! Feeble in mind and body. Someone put great grandpa out to pasture.

I hope he cuts Medicare and social security. It may be the only way a large percentage of his MAGA cult starts to turn on him.

What is there to weigh?! Just do it! The evidence is overwhelming. NY residents - start calling your governor. Make her remove him or NYC will be trumps and you know he’s mad at you for turning on him.

Sec. Pete Buttigieg was ringing the alarm on the challenges of the aviation industry- specifically operational challenges prior to trumps inauguration. Trump has fired FAA employees & that has impacted safety in an industry already under staffed. Weather/climate change has impacted flights/safety

I think it’s a bit of everything. When there is a bad crash they do start reporting on other smaller crashes that we might not have heard of otherwise. Sensationalism drives the news. Plus fears are heightened so we’re all uber aware

AI helps bridge the gaps but like other online searches, you do need to verify the sources. A good rule of thumb is question everything online regardless. I worry about AI being corrupted by eliminating sources and inserting bias

Personally l like AI. It reminds me of a more accurate and responsive Wikipedia. I can’t be an “expert” on everything but I feel like there’s a lot I need to know about our government and politics that I didn’t learn or didn’t retain in school. It’s not my profession so what I do know is spotty.

HOWEVER I oppose using a drug addicted so called billionaire with ties to Putin to oversee the whole thing. I also oppose the very secretive and bull in a China shop methods they are using.

Does social services still care about children in homes with a drug addicted parent or does that not apply to the wealthy?
