When I talk to kids today and they ask me what I would do if I were 12 today, my answer is always the same, read books and learn how to use AI in every way shape and form you can. It is a living library that gives you responses and can help no matter who you are or where you live.
Comments
Today it's a free-for-all- head-first jump into AI, and to hell with consequences because there's money to be made.
This is a test which I fear human race will fail with fatal consequences.
Read books, period. Grow critical thinking skills instead of relying on a machine.
Goodbye.
We’ve had enough.
There’s little reason people who want to create a different future can’t do so unless they’re just afraid or need to blame their anger on others.
Find a way or make one.
You are advocating the downfall of human learning and comprehension.
Not all tech is beneficial and AI will ultimately destroy mankind.
FUCK OFF WITH YOUR CREEPY MIND CONTROL CAPITALISM.
Rich is not equal to smart, apparently.
AI is a living library plagiarizing existing works and using them to replace real creators.
When it's not telling people to eat rocks and referencing fake court cases.
The only entity on the planet which regularly uses the word "fellows" is shitty AI.
It should be dumped for that reason alone, if nothing else...
Does the data need tinkering and validation? Doesn't all data need validation?
AI didn't get us here. Google did.
Turing was a homosexual when the shit got you casterated, and maybe not the guy to ask whence the spark of life originated.
So we got the lying machine. The plagarism flood fill.
I don't suspect you make websites or use things for content creation or coding. All fine.
I don't agree with you at all, but that's our right as humans.
AI
It sounds superfluous, but it's all the difference in the world.
This is horrible advice.
This is "lie back and try to enjoy it" for technology, and I am not going to do so.
"AI" is a technological dead end.
It's only as valuable as you make it.
Simply avoid using it and advise regularly on the harm if does to critical thinking and the environment.
ai is a flea circus. it’s a mirage.
Generative AI vomits inaccurate plagiarism
AI is like saying "wow, yall made actual wheels, so here's what I think a wheel is" and it farts out something that doesn't even roll
cuban is talking about generative ai and you know it.
it’s a flea circus. the latest line of bullshit from techbros. it simply doesn’t do what they’re claiming iy does and it never will.
it’s an investment scam so they can add some more billions to their portfolios.
We’d have a lot smarter children if we dumped the computers, banned AI, and gave them all a violin and a music teacher.
My grandmother's wisdom was: nobody can ever take away what you have learned.
They surely can corrupt and deny the AI oracles at will.
I do not know what any of that means, nor am I curious at all about it. 🤷♀️😅
Plus, I am a huge fan of the human brain. It has the capacity for so much. Use it or lose it, as they say. I prefer to use it myself.

Very good point, thank you very much, Stuart!
Disease-catching tech: good!
And thanks!

Give me advice.
How will they know what data biased that answer?
How you got the answer is at least as important as the answer you got.
Easy to slide into dystopia if you don’t know who is pulling the strings of the magic answer box.
But I'm glad you appreciate that relatively speaking, the entire class is made of humans who have failed at the most basic requirements of human-ing. Zero cool. #EndBillionaires
Nowadays it's an android phone and rewards!!
And 2 years ago my eldest daughter remembered that and bought me the full set of Narnia stories for Christmas...I think she liked making me cry happy tears
I spent 8yrs working in criminal rehabilitation her in the UK...until mid 1990s the prison library was crucial to helping prisoners read write and educate...then TVs were put in cells and the library system crashed..repeat offending soared !!!
Kids should learn how to use AI.
But NOOOO to Robot Overlords.
It's really sickening to hear you push that on the younger generation. How will they develop critical thinking skills?
You watch shark tank, 10-20 years…. Same. He got a social media fucker. Social media bs rn.
I can fully see a near future where deep human thoughts are replaced with uncriticized AI answers ala Idiocracy; already started.
Jump off AI dick please, not all 13 year olds need to be using it
I already write. I'm using my own writing sample in the AI, refining my thinking with something w/o emotion.
I get I'm in the minority of AI users here.
That's tough to discuss socially, when that is so many peoples' reality now.
AI simply saves me time.
There is a case for ethical AI use as a tool.
Generative AI is theft.

Beware of blaming the latter, because who gets blamed will go beyond what you find acceptable.

How Meta and X of you, Cuban.
My kids know how to think. I know how to, too.
Fuck your fake shit.
Also, most people haven't studied IT.
The average person knows what around 5% of what they need to know, just to accurately vote in elections and resist the lies.
We can't afford AI. We are too stupid now.
Never say never 🍀
I am begging you to go visit an actual library. Get a card. Find out about the all the services it provides.
As per your words, AI is not reliable.
Therefore, critical thinking compels me to disregard its use as a source.
As it stands now, the whole mess is a gigantic ethics violation that I'm not going to touch with a ten-foot pole.

📍AI (you are here)
Don't give up, I'm sure just $1B more invested in AI will create a usable product that doesn't randomly lie to you, maybe it will even be able to do math as well as a calculator from before I was born
There's also use case scenarios that should be considered as well.

By their "in house AI".
While techy people who work with it know it makes stuff up, it appears the great majority of people think it's accurate because it *mainly* tells the truth so they miss that it will lie at random

Who is going to check or police it?
according to my subject librarian, AI makes up citations from whole cloth.
Cuban knows this and doesn’t care or is ignorant.
Either is dangerous
But alot of people with 0 knowledge of IT mistake it for a fancy google search or library.
Call me, Grimm … but I think I can recognize one thing here, the AI takeover that Elon Musk always hinted at.
It’s here. It’s happening.
Will it be kind?
Will the creators be kind?
Or does their video game now begin
All of a sudden we are living in the science fiction of 2010s
It’s just grim
That’s because I have no reason to hear it at this moment.
What I do fear and fear fiercely, is the intent of those that we’ve trusted to create AI, then to unleash it.
It’s hard to trust people, seem untrustworthy
Do you trust the tech bro crowd?
I don’t
I'd rather not teach it.
Again, there has to be trust for the creators and I’m just not sure that I have that.
How could we possibly trust them to be honest with us about intentions or what vision THEY have for AI. They have a vision too.
AI is controlled by people who may not want us to know the facts. AI is only as good as the information it is ALLOWED to access. There is a reason some of us are becoming “The Book People”.
Sure - facts are facts, but Encyclopedias teach more than facts. They are tools to teach how to evaluate a primary source and cross-reference those facts.
It's hard for me to take not believing it seriously when that is literally what it's being used for right now. I agree that we need to move forward in a smart way, but that's not what's happening.
Just using AI and learning how to ask the right questions will only take you so far
That's now infiltrated by mobs changing articles to suit their old dogmas and debunking new science and ideas.
And, definitely not if Elon Musk has anything to do with it.
You’ll miss all AI comments that way though .. so if you still want to see them ..instead you could just mute him.
I’ve muted bitcoin, blockchain, all the things that irritate me and it’s been pretty nice :)
any harasement by Elon or his people haras you or try to tell you not to participate as a "class Member" can increase the damages Elon INC will have to pay.

The Internet can be
There is no replacement for the hard work needed
I do not agree that AI is a library. AI can help as a tool, if your only source of Truth is AI w/o the discipline of the
w/o understanding or application. Real Power is work done over time. That is the application of knowledge(education, training, experiences),otherwise its just a degree, words.aka “hot air”,inefficiency.

Kids who fail to learn how to use—and benefit from—AI are going to be woefully underprepared when the time comes to find a job.
There may not have been sufficient time for the actual "balancing checkbook" in depth learning.

LLMs are great, I use them every day, but you are vastly overestimating their capability
None of them had AI as kids - but they didn't exactly grow up to be genius critical thinkers.
Nothing can make us dumber than we already are. Maybe AI can make us smarter? Couldn't hurt.
A lot of John Henry wanna-bes out there seem to forget that John Henry died broke - and the industrialists built empires that are thriving to this day. Be careful how you guide your children because you think your path is more honorable.
While something is lost with each new layer, much is gained—freeing time and mental resources to think more abstractly.
When I was a kid I learned to program in 6502 machine language for fun on my Commodore 64 .. it took me months, and many books/magazines .. with LLMs it can take a 12yo a day or a week.
Its easier to just manually learn it than to rely on an algorithm coded to sound convincingly like human language and not to be accurate information.
Right?
The LLMs aren't AI, they're applied statistics designed to make people who don't know about something sound like they do.
I know, because I make them. So, yes, I also know they're real. Thank you for your unsolicited/unnecessary input.
It ain't all that, but tech billionaires have invested so much in it that they want a return on their investment.
Maybe using too much AI has affected your ability to recognize an apples and oranges comparison.

And Cuban is way off on this one.
