This is huge and monstrous. The nasal vaccines are our only hope of getting back to a world where you don't have to fear getting covid indoors. I would like to stop masking some day, and they're going to make it impossible.

The point of the "Let the Democrats leave and vote again when they're not looking" plan was to prevent swing-distinct Republicans from having to take an awful vote that'd hurt them bad next year. Democrats successfully foiled that plan and those Rs all had to vote to cut Medicaid.

WELP. They sent everyone home, and now they've just reopened the series and put the bill back on the floor. Members had left Capitol Hill for the night, now they are turning around and driving back, I've never seen this happen before in 10+ years working here

Amazing scenes. There’s a reason Trump/Elon love the executive orders and the king routine, and part of it is: they don’t have the votes to do it constitutionally.

I asked Paul George — who has come back from multiple major injuries — if there was any wisdom to pass on to Embiid to help during his process of getting back to himself. He deadpanned: “Drugs help.”

I don't even like making eye contact with my own reflection.

Republicans have gone from collapsing on a fainting couch over Hillary’s private e-mail server to installing a Russian asset as the Director of National Intelligence.

every inch of progress in the US is like this. BLM, defund the police, trans rights, etc — all marginal, sometimes nonexistent gains followed by massive rightward pendulum swings born of the (false) assertion that by gently prodding an issue, we’ve gone “too far”

I dream of one day having a boring government that quietly funds infrastructure maintenance and community health centers.

We could have had Kamala Harris. Instead, we have the most immature, petulant, stupid, needy, incompetent dipshit to ever enter American politics. What a tragically stupid country we are.

We all like to yell at the Democrats, but it’s really Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune who are letting Elon Musk and his faceless goon squad make a mockery of their power as leaders of a coequal branch without uttering a peep or lifting a finger.

This is a takeover of the federal government by an unelected billionaire.

If Biden was like “water beats fire, release water now” and had the army do it and the army had to be like “uh the fire is gone but uh, ah shit let’s not do enough to cause a flood maybe that will work” I think people in the news would have raised considerable alarm about it

i just cannot get over how much the administration’s response to the crash shows a profound disrespect for the lives of the people they are supposed to serve

It bears repeating and repeating ad nauseum: If you withheld support from Biden/Harris as a means of advocating for Palestinian nationhood and the aspirations of the Palestinian people and you did not see this moment coming: You are a performative, sloganeering and politically incompetent rube.

I hope this isn’t an unpopular opinion, but more & more MAGA folks are being impacted by Trump’s policies & cuts Many are confused & scared This is a small window of opportunity to help them see they were lied to. Taken in by hate Will it change things? I don’t know. But it may be worth trying

It's genuinely funny that the response to calling them left wing is "Wow stop demonizing them", just openly stating that being 'far left' is inherently gross to CNN lol

Boy, things that were "never going to happen" sure do keep happening a lot.

Americans generally have very little idea of the roles that the government plays in their lives. They’re about to find out.

The media is not prepared for this moment. Trump is going to dismantle the federal government, and I don't think the American people are going to understand what's going on.

The skeleton key to understanding the last decade of American politics is that if you don't have principles, nobody can hold you to account for them.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

This is the GOP’s long con on full display.

David Lynch, 2014: "I always say, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is my biggest influence. There is something about the mood here. The fear, insanity, corruption, filth, despair, violence in the air was so beautiful to me."

it didnt break through bc instead of putting trump in handcuffs immediately democrats commissioned years-long panelss and gave trump and his media lickspittles room to start saying “it was just old people walking around and maybe it was a false flag”

Ex-FBI informant who fabricated bribery story about Bidens gets 6 years in prison www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe...

every single one of these guys is an incel loser who thought that being rich would make them popular and well-liked and when it didn't happen they lost their minds even further

People who say “hugs not drugs” have clearly never experienced the warm sweet embrace of some good ass drugs

MLK was born the same year as Barbara Walters.

“The fires are a reminder that a planet decimated by human greed and indulgence doesn’t care about your net worth. You can’t speak to the weather’s manager. Mother Nature has no concierge. Your investment portfolio will not halt an inferno. A college degree won’t tame the blaze.”

"Four years ago we lived through a pivot point. History could have gone one way, but went another. For about a one-month period after the Jan. 6, America was poised to consign Trumpism to the dustbin of history. Instead, Trump will return to the White House." open.substack.com/pub/donmoyni...

I can’t believe there are all these idiots who want to go back to when people just used to shit themselves to death 75 percent of the time

there is a 24/7 right-wing propaganda apparatus that operates across multiple mediums and it designed to do exactly this: smother any kind of local, material concern with cultural war signifiers and cultivate a “political affiliation as team sport” ethos

Montana is the clearest place to see the nationalization of US politics. Whole Dem ticket was multigenerational MT hunters & farmers in bolo ties. Dem gov candidate owned a gun manufacturer. GOP slate was outta state tech. Whole race was dominated by natl culture war & southern border, GOP sweep

The key takeaway is that the world’s richest man got what he wanted; stripped our cancer funding for kids, killed reforms to bring down drugs prices and caps on investment in China. Trump on the other hand demanded a debt ceiling raise and got nothing.

a lot of congressional negotiations come down to the fact that Democrats are less willing to hurt people in the name of stupid bullshit than Republicans are and so they blink at the last minute Elon and company don't care if government workers get paid over holidays, so they win
