If you have an unread copy of Let This Radicalize You lying around, this would be an excellent time to read Chapter 6: “Violence” in Social Movements. It's also a good time to share that chapter with others.

The thing about having a substack is that it shows you long to be in community & that you are putting in the time & labor—but if you don’t know about (or acknowledge 👀) the Nazi condoning & profiteering AT THIS POINT, you aren’t really engaged w/ community, & listening, & that = community harm.

I’m always glad to see folks reminding people what Substack’s policies are but since people are acting like it’s recent I want to note that this post is from 2023 and was in response to active campaigning from writers to get Nazis off the platform. And here’s alt text.

Musicians, head to the studio please. This needs to be mixed in to the beginning of at least 19 punk, rock, and rap songs by the end of the week.

Vogue needs to interview me instead of celebrities like what is your typical Saturday morning? Giving my dog Xanax for the rain, listening to Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer, folding towels.

Poetry abhors the lie. The lies we are told, they pile up, they become truth by virtue of the heap. By their volume. By virtue of constant recapitulation … Poetry digs through. Its castings make some growth possible on contaminated ground. C.D. Wright

DC Dyke March is an unpermitted march, btw. Want folks who are new to protest to get used to the idea that you should, generally speaking, not be asking the government for permission to protest. It’s your right. If you have the numbers to take the street, just take the street.

Been traveling for three weeks and absent from here, but I wanted to share this new piece in @whaleroadreview.bsky.social, a hybrid piece that features grief, Ophelia, and the weather. I'd be grateful if you read it... This one is special to me. www.whaleroadreview.com/vorreyer-4/

Oh shit uhhh - John Green reblogged some fanfic thing I put on Tumblr like 10 yrs ago & described my writing as ‘lyrical’ - @hanvanderhart.bsky.social describing a poem I wrote as “defiant, soft, & sparkling” - Neil Hilborn, after I read the thing I wrote for a class he led: “holy shit this rips”
