Anyway, stream is over. Here's a nicely written up article by @gavinverhey.bsky.social about the Commander Brackets Beta: magic.wizards.com/en/news/anno... #MTG #EDH #Commander

Again, this only matters to players who don't play high powered magic. If you generally optimize your decks, you are in Bracket 4 and don't care about what is and what isn't a Game Changer. It's a list for lower power level players to care about. #MTG #EDH #Commander

Further, I think 40 cards is A LOT for another list of cards to be aware of. It shouldn't get much bigger, but I fear through virtue of the fact that new cards are always being printed, it inevitably will get bigger. #MTG #EDH #Commander

That doesn't negate people who maybe want to build a specific Bracket 3 deck, but I do think there is an over-focus about what card is considered a game changer and what isn't.

A lot of people are focusing on the "Game Changers" list. It's interesting, but I think people just see a list of cards and just want to debate about it. Kind of feels like most people who are debating the power levels of specific cards are probably in Bracket 4 anyways #MTG #EDH #Commander

The Twitch chats most asked question: "Is Land Fetching considered a tutor?" Gavin says no, finding lands is not considered a tutor for the purpose of this list. #MTG #EDH #Commander

A question asked: Per bracket 3, what constitutes a "late game" combo? Per Gavin, it's around Turn 8 and later. Another question asked, was a point system ever considered, similar to Canadian Highlander? It added too much complexity to what they want to be a simple system. #MTG #EDH #Commander

The goal for this beta phase is to evaluate how this all works and then revisit any major changes in late April. That timeframe MAY have changes to the ban list. #WeeklyMTG #MTG #EDH #Commander

@scryfall.com, @edhrec.com, @moxfield.com are an example of many tools for #EDH deckbuilding that are going to push updates to denote what cards are game changers

Here are the cards that are game changers during this beta phase of the Commander Brackets.

Game Changers act as a "watch list" of sorts. It's a place for strong cards to go before being banned AND vice versa. Banned cards can move down to Game Changers as a sort of test to see how it plays before unbanning it.

I've been curious too! The cards have all been better so far compared to past vanilla uncommons. The G was about on par with a vanilla rare... I'm betting a 4/5 for something like 1WW

I echo the Crimson Vow sentiment. It felt like the beginning of design being less "Magic inspired by X theme" and just more like "Magic, but X theme." Feels like the work isn't being put in to make these sets feel like or look like Magic as we've known it.

Tap three Swamps, cast Murder targeting Loot, response?

Oh yeah, Vega can go. Flying and Birds both have a ton of support and there is so much value in the draw off Vega, especially since so many keywords cast from out of hand.

Hard to choose, but has to be Vega, The Watcher. Incredibly easy to build around with other flyers, Suspend, Disturb, Foretell, Flashback, Adventures, Escape, Discover, etc

"Oh, wow, see you were flooded anyway, you didn't need those lands." "Geez, did you guys see what I hit, thank goodness!"
