I do something that sounds nice on accident.
I try to learn about what I did so I can do it intentionally next time.
Inevitably forced to give up, and I go back to doing things by accident.

I remember the designer behind Manifold Garden, William Chyr, said while streaming the development of that game that rather than recruiting an architect, Inception really should have had a game designer, but people don't really understand what they do or how their job fits.

They really bring a "ask for forgiveness, not permission" energy to every Dropout appearance that I appreciate

Part of the problem, and something that came up while workshopping an idea for a pitch, is it's really easy to take any idea and turn it to horror with just a few elements, or to give the impression of being clever by twisting something, but that results in a lot of the same stuff that's boring.

The "writer's block? write." one has been one of the hardest for me to learn (probably second only to "don't excessively edit things while they're still being written").
Having a minimum daily word count I need to hit for the AA fangame I'm doing has been great for fixing both.

Sad to be in the wrong country to have seen all my friends at the rally today, but still just been enjoying seeing some family and doing a bit of writing

And to think, they went to all that effort of making something in Korean so you wouldn't walk away.

Being a NZer in groups of people from different countries often seems to result in being the translator. For cases where English isn't someone's first language, I've sometimes rattled off 4-6 different terms for the same thing until one happens to stick.

i'm furious that gang patch legislation has been used against children and not man up. i'm furious that the anti stalking law will likely be used against activists outside luxon's house more than the cops will ever use it to protect women. i'm furious at people who still believe cops can fix this.

i'm furious that when no pride in prisons protested the pride parade, we were met by far more cops far more willing to use violence than the police have been against destiny. i'm furious that liberal gays thought that was fine — the discomfort from intracommunity disagreement worse than bigots.

i'm furious at liberals. i'm furious about the hand-wringing "it's not safe to protest" shaneel lal and sina brown-davis among others did last year to shut down trans solidarity and courage. i'm furious about chippy and wayne brown calling this "little boy" shit or "thuggery".

😭 I'm not needing to move anywhere in the immediate term, but also the window could be anywhere from 4-5 months to a year if not more, so may well still be looking if circumstances change.

Sadly, the move to Australia was already a strain on me when that happened, and if a repeat of my last attempt to move to Hamilton occurred, I'd probably be even more stuck the second time round. 🙁
While I would have preferred to have stayed in NZ, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

For my full license test, they directed me onto the motorway, and pointed to a sign, "note, the speed is 100".
This is only a minute away from the motorway ending and joining normal road, so very soon after has a sign that's slower. Instructor kept quiet.
I understand this caught people out often.

Sometimes I feel like people just assume what the speed ought to be and drive to that, or assume if they've seen one sign, then subsequent signs will say the same thing.

Does Amtrak make stops, because that would allow there to be a bit where runners get on the train, and then have to finish their run before they get to their stop.

I can see this being what they were going for, but sadly, there are a lot more uncharitable readings that feel easier to believe in this instance. :/

Okay, but sometimes the computer is being a piece of motherfucking shit that won't do the thing, and it needs to be said.

While I wouldn't say there's an abundance of swearing, having my experience with US tech folks be mainly gaming adjacent skews things a bunch, because I feel like everyone I've worked with drops at least the occasional "fuckin'" or "this shit" every once in a while.

I'm sorry kid, you don't deserve what will happen to you. Your only crime was being written to feel things.
