I started reading Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana Jr. and it turns out the reason he wrote that book was because he had intended to become a lawyer like his father and while he was at Harvard he got measles and it screwed up his vision so badly that he couldn't read or study anymore

I'm watching the Conclave (2024) movie, and there is one thing that briefly took me out of the story: the Cardinal in pectore of Kabul. In real life, they are ineligible for participation, as their appointment expires with the Pope unless they are publicly named cardinals beforehand.

Out of curiosity, I checked the P/E ratios of Tata, Honda, Hyundai, Ford, GM, Fiat Chrysler, BYD, and Tesla. With 2 outliers, they were from 6.5-8. BYD? 15 or so, but they're growing. Tesla? Over 100. That's insane.

Re: the tariffs, as an American, we deserve what's coming. I remember my friends. I remember how they have helped us in incredibly dark times. I remember Canadian electricians and Mexican doctors helping after Katrina and in so many other cases. They are dear friends, and we are betraying them.
